Post Bridgestone SO2's good or bad ?

It's time for tires, SO2's have been suggested, what's the current feeling on these. 96 993 cpe mostly freeway, no race no rain (CA) Tire Rack still the best deal?

I have run the SO2's on two of my latest Porsches, I think that for the price its hard to beat. They do tend to wear quicker than the newer SO3's

For street only, look no farther than Michelin Pilot Sports......a MUCH more comfortable ride and MUCH quieter. Go into any dealer that has both, and compare the sidewall stiffness. I HATED the S02s that were on mine.

Just went from P-Zeros to SO2. Really pleased so far. Don't know about wear since I've logged 200 miles since the change.

SOCALBOB,

I found the noise of the huge grooves in the
S-02's (probably good in rain) to be very annoying. I sold my slightly worn S-O2's and replaced them with Michelin Pilot Sport Cups. The Cup version of the Michelin is a high performance dry weather tire. Small grooves make it very quiet. The softer compound increases traction by 10% over the S-02’s. 10% better grip is not just a competitive advantage, it is a major safety advantage as well. I bought my tires from Tire Rack.

Regards,
George

SOCALBOB, a tire you may also want to consider is the BFGoodrich GForce KD's. They are outstanding performers on dry pavement. What I also like about them is that they are Y-rated for 186mph with the reinforced sidewalls. Just a little added insurance IMO...

They'll probably last a bit longer than the Pilot Sport Cups too.

Check the "cost of ownership" section of my web site, I think I am on my 3rd set of SO-2s.

I just ordered new rear SO2 tires from Tire Rack. Their prices were very competitive, and although I had to pay shipping, I didn't have to pay sales tax. They dropped to an authorized installer, AJ-USA in San Diego. AJ mounted and balanced for $15 a tire, or thereabouts. I saved abot $80 net, $40 a tire in contrast to buying from the local Discount Tire.

In addition, I did the complete order over the internet...Tire Rack's customer service is outstanding!! <img src="graemlins/xyxwave.gif" border="0" alt="[bigbye]" />

I agree on Tire Rack. I just bought 4 S03's and a set of OZ wheels and Pilot Sport tires. Impeccable service and great prices.

s0-2's on my 88 Club Sport...love'em. the s0-3's were not out yet when I bought the s0-2's, but I like the handling, price and tread pattern quite a lot.
