Post Mobil "motorsport" oil?

My car is being serviced this week. Having used Castrol Magnatec, I was going to change to Mobil 1.

I thought I'd get the 0w40 oil but noticed they had a 15w50 motorsport oil.

I live in the UK, will be doing 3 track days and street use.

Any thoughts on which oil is best? Is this Mobil motorsport oil new? - cost is identical for the oils.

Bit late, Singh, but I would go for the lower viscosity unless you have say >50K miles on the clock. You will get better cold start flow with the 0 than the 15, ultimate hot protection probably not required here. But if you are high mileage and oil pressure is drooping when hot, try the 15/50.

Either would be signifcantly better than the Magnetec - RS would be the logical Castrol.

HTH, Cheers, Maurice

According to my dealer, Porsche is now also recommending 0x40 for all 993's/986's and 996's.
Only exception may be cars that are heavily tracked with extreme year round warm temps. Mobil now has a next generation for their current TriSyn oil with SL API certification. The new name/formula for the Mobil 1 is SuperSyn. http://www.mobil1.com/
