Default Clutch releases high

My clutch releases very late in its travel, and concerns me mostly when starting in first gear lest I kill the car and get myself killed from an inattentive driver behind my car.

Is this a symptom of clutch going out or just a crappy driver who needs to get a tiptronic? I have reviewed prior posts and it appears it may be driver incompetence but I've never experienced this with prior clutches.

I have been told (because my clutch is also fairly high in the pedal) that this is a sign of limited remaining life in your disk. Mine isn't slipping yet, but I'm starting to save up for a LWF RS clutch assy.
