Wow poorb0yw, that's a lot of things you've removed! Thanks for the list. I could actually pick from them by weight/priority. I actually want to look fro thigns from the back. I'm thinking the front could use the weight.

Did you guys remove your bottom engine cover(tray)? I had the car on the lift earlier looking for a phantom rattle under the engine. I think that cover/tray has substantial weight. I'm sure if removed, it gives more needed cooling to the motor. Any reported damage from debri without this cover?
Mike, man, where have you been?

That's the first thing most of us (including not weight watchers) have dumped!

Search for discussions about it, tons of it, usually 993 guys believe in remowing it but some of 964 guys don't (I think they just want to be rebels against "us").

Thanks Flying Finn. I have been trying to search for those threads by came up zip. I guess I have to search harder. How's the bottom of your engine looking without this cover? Mine looks pretty clean, but I'm debating if I remove it now or after the winter.

Anyone knows a good source(competetive price) for Recaro seats?

Edward- Most of those, if replaced with something else, are the weights reduced after installing the replacement. ie switching the seats to Recaro SPG and SPG racer models gave a net loss of 71 lbs.
Other such things were carpet/padding was replaced with one layer of perlon (weighed less than the adhesive that I scraped up from the chassis so I didn't add it back in),5 lb Tilton carbon clutch, 8 lb porsche motorsports flywheel, and the RS door panels etc... Everything is is just off for good.
I did add a Harness bar (~8lbs and will be replaced with a roll bar in time) tho.

Mike- PM me the best price you have found on Recaros and I'll see if I know of a place that has better pricing.

poorb0yw, did you remove the 3rd brake light on top of the rear-windshield? Two questions:
1a) Is it legal?
1b) If not, have the police given you crap about it ever?
1c) What would be the penalty if they did?
2) Do the DE tech inspectors give you a hard time about it?

Mike,

Go ahead and take the cover off. It's better for your engine.

Hey Princeton, with all that weight gone, when are you going to put that thing on the track? Are you gonna be at TWS next weekend?

JPL -
1a) probably not.
1b) not so far (they probably wouldnt know the difference).
1c) would most likely be a fix it ticket such as the ones given for no front plate.
2) dont see why it would be a problem.

Matt- I'll be in Austin catching up with friends this weekend. Danny has however threatened to sign me up for the february event when he is back so I guess I'll have to try and finish up any of my projects before then to ensure it will make it to the track.

No need to search Mike, just take it off...

My engine looks good, although there aren't many gravel roads around here...

Well, all the older 911 didn't have this kind of thing (964 has) and most of other cars don't have it so I don't think it would be a problem.

Princeton,

Have you been on scale lately?
I'd be interested what's the weight of your car!?

I was at Moroso and weight with 1/4 tank was 2800 lbs.

Isn`t the rear undertray supposed to be an aerodynamic aid helping to reduce rear lift? Would it be prudent to inform your insurance company if you remove it to prevent complications in the event of an accident? Is it a good idea to increase rear end lift in a car notorious for being a bit tail happy ?

finn- Should be getting it on a scale in a week or so. Whenever I head down to the drag strip again. Those aluminum trim rings around your guages must add about 350 grams tsk tsk. lol

Heres my interior.

Nothing compared to that unbelievably heavy radar thingy...

I'm looking forward of hearing the weight of your car!
