Hi Gang!

I'm trying to ship my new acquisition from Connecticut to California --- door to door / enclosed transport. Obviously I'm very excited!

This is my first time organizing this myself as a buyer. I contacted a company (broker) recommended by a buddy and we pulled the trigger 6 days ago on Oct 14th (Friday)..... pricing estimated at ~$1650. So far the company (broker) has not found a truck yet and of course I'm getting antsy.

Anyone have experience at this? Are these leads times normal? Or, should I contact another company?

I used the "The Finest Carrier - Broker" In CA from CO to Pittsburgh PA. Had a driver enclosed carrier within 1 day. Took 2 days to deliver my car. No issues. $1,600

 

Recently shipped 2 cars - first was using Plycar (Nick) from SoCal to MI and second was with VIP Auto Carriers Inc from Naples to MI.

Both were first rate & very fast. I will say that my Cayenne arrived with a couple of scratches that I didn't remember seeing & were not noted on the condition report - Nick at Plycar paid my detailer for the removal of them without questioning.

VIP had my Spyder delivered within 2 days of pick up - great communication & no issues whatsoever.

 

I have shipped about 10 cars over the last year. My broker can likely do enclosed shipping for $1250 ish. Reputable companies are used. Last time my E30 M3 arrived it was riding along with Lambo's and Ferrari's.

Oh and this is the best part. My last purchase, she found a truck 1 hour after my purchase....the truck was there in 2 hours and on it's way to me. No kidding.

Wow --- Plycar --- they want $2550 for enclosed door to door shipping from CT to CA (quote online). I was expecting something in the 1600-1900 range.

 

Just for a data point, mine was Intercity for $ 2k from Ore to NH. Took a couple of weeks before a truck was in the area for pickup.

 

plycar is premium priced

i use national car transport out of FL (they book moves nationwide of course)... jimm cash is who i deal with... 8 cars moved last 2 years all enclosed. very fair pricing, good truckers

 

I used ‘Angels Moving Autos’ (broker) this summer to ship a 993 from San Jose, CA to Washington D.C. Enclosed trailer, top load, lift gate. Cost was $2100. The Carrier they sent (TopLine Service) provided white glove treatment. Was very happy with service, especially since I called 2-days before needing to ship the car.

 

Drive the damn car! Beautiful time of the year for a cross country trip.

 

Check out Intercity. They are a Sponsor and I believe give member discounts. I have used them from CA to CT and CT to CA. Excellent company.

 

Thanks for all the tips gang - what a cornucopia of options! I contacted almost all the suggestions here. I'll post my results after the transport is complete and relay any interesting insights to this crowd.

 

I had a great experience with them as well and would use them again. The only downside is that they are a relatively small company and are often booked, so wait times can be relatively long.

 

Here is mine..just dug it out...This was Porsche recommended when I shipped from Porsche of Colorado Springs, CO. They did an excellent job.
