Default Finally got my RS...no not THAT RS

This RS...the Ford Focus version, my new DD. Ordered 2/16, built in Germany 6/23, delivered 10/07... not a pretty process from Ford, but a very pretty car. 200 miles in, still limited on boost, and revs, but very impressive. The slope is gonna be pretty slippery on this one too...

The color is a chameleon, radically changes in varying light conditions...very heavily metallic.

Joe,
Congrats. Impressive list of stats on that rocket. What will happen to the Traffic Cone?

Now man up and buy one of these:

Nice looking car! I just spent an hour reading all about it.

How difficult was it to get; can you just go to any Ford dealer and they will order it or is it limited production and you have to get an allocation?
Cost is MSRP + dealer markup or were you able to negotiate anything better than MSRP?

Thx.

Joe- very nice DD. Limited in boost? Well the beauty with a boosted car is you have lots of aftermarket tuning options out there to turn it up a few notches.

Wow, great pick! Hard to believe that's a mustang Eco boost engine under there. The stats on this car are really quite impressive. Did you opt for the forged wheels with the sport cup 2's? Have fun with her.

Thumbs up

RL remembers your excitement when you ordered it.

Worth the wait - now enjoy your new Nitrous Blue.

More pics of the Magdaddy-mobile?
In meantime:

Congrats man! Looking forward to your assessment of the car after owning it for a while. From what I've read its a great car, albeit a little harsh for day to day driving!

Sh%t, that is a neat ford. Love the color. There is already a huge amount of aftermarket support for the car, enjoy drift-mode safely. Probably shouldn't do that on the street, someone did and crashed..oops.

You're 993 is jealous.

Joe -

Very nice! I have seriously been considering one of these - how do you like it so far? Any complaints yet?

Dealer allocation only, most dealers only get to order 1 car...if that. I found this one at MSRP. Schedule for production was a lottery system, production delays, initial QC production halts, etc....limited North American cars to a total of around 4000 I believe. Many who had a legitimate allocation, didn't get built for MY16. Some orders were dropped by Ford, others were carried over into the MY17 build. All around a pathetic process by Ford.

stock wheels with regular Michelins, the forged wheels were silly expensive. Winter wheelset up next, maybe a hi-end summer wheel AFTER the other go faster/ be louder bits...

Car has multiple settings, normal, sport, track, and drift. Changes multiple parameters including dampining. In both normal, and sport...it rides better than the Subie Crosstrek I had previously. Granted, it was slightly lowered with coilovers, but it rode like crap.

Andy...according to the Focus RS development dude I talked to yesterday, the motor takes about 1000miles to open up...but the magic rear diff takes up to 4000 to learn everything. He says the car comes alive around 4K miles. Currently has torque steer like a fwd car, plenty of pull at any rpm range, and has very impresssive feedback. The interior is nice, the Recaro's are great...I have a few pet peeves, but they quickly fade when you push the accelerator. It's gonna be a spectacular DD.

Joe:

Just in case you haven't seen it, there is a long piece in the October Octane, about the RS and it's predecessors.
