Default Oil Change Changes

Hello there,

Yesterday I changed the oil and filters (all by myself!!! ) (last time it was done 7.500 miles ago).
May be I am mistaken something but I am almost sure that after I filled oil tank by new fresh oil the engine feels/runs better-smoother-quieter-faster. The difference in work of motor before/after oil change are so dramatic that I tend to think now that I should change oil at least every 5.000 miles....
I just wonder if it just my illusions. Has anyone noticed similar improved "behavior" of motor after oil change?

I know what you mean. Also, when I wash any of our cars, they always seems to run better as well.

A clean car is a faster car! Especially if the wheels are clean...

I have had this happen on a street car that I let the oil change go a bit too long, but am surprised it happened on a 993, as the large quantity of oil and the fact that it is synthetic oil should minimize the effects of burning off the lighter fractions of the oil.

More frequent oil changes can't hurt, and maybe you might
increase the longevity of the engine avoiding major engine
work. The 15K for Porsche is a bit too long even with synthetics.

I change the oil in all my cars more frequently than 5K.
My Nissan Pathfinder V6 has 350K without ANY engine work.
It now uses a quart every 2K plus. I change the oil every 3K
and the oil & filter every 6K.

Have Fun
