Question Which 993 should I buy?

After much searching and lot's of help from you folks have narrowed down to two cars. Both are narrow body cars, with 30K miles, owned by long time PCA members. Both cars have hifi and aftermarket interior bits, and full books/records.

1996 C2: One owner car in concours condition. Black interior (1st choice). 18" sport design wheels. Tequipment exhaust. Potenza's with 8K mi. 30K service NOT done. Does NOT have LS/ABD.

1997 C2: Three owner car; two in past year. Very good condition. RSR mufflers. 17" cup wheels. LS/ABD. New P-Zero's. 030 springs. 30K service done. Classic grey interior (2nd choice).

The 96 does not have LS/ABD - will I miss it? The 97 is a year newer, but has changed hands twice and but has a slightly less preferred color combo and may not be quite as concours in condition. Price is close enough not to be a factor.

I know many of you have wrestled with decisions like this and would really appreciate any advice you may have. Thanks a million!

Drive them, that may help you decide. Every 993 I have been in and driven feels a little different.

I'm with Kim. If you plan on tracking the car, go with the '97. It's not in concours condition and has the right mechanical equipment. If you don't plan on doing DE's and want a garage queen, go with the '96. I'm not sure what zenith blue looks like but speed yellow/black are a racey combo, if perhaps a bit attention getting.

If it were me, I'd go with my first color combo and wouldn't compromise until the right car came along.

get the black interior car, you will always regret it if you sit in a car with the "wrong for you" interior.

speed yellow over black is IT.
if you really need LSD at a later date, you can get one from paul guard or porsche motorsport.

I agree, 24FPS. What a nice problem to have.

I'd go with the speed yellow/black. Pretty awesome combo. And it sounds like the car has a good owner history. Only have to talk to one previous owner about the car!

If you really want LSD, from reading this forum, an aftermarket unit is the way to go. It appears that the Porsche LSD has kind of a short life.

Drive 'em both and buy the one you like the best. Let us know how this turns out and have fun making the choice.

Jacks Dad, are you related to Jacks mom?? anyway skip both and
get a turbo. I started at the end of may. I wanted ANY 993. as my research
grew, and I became more knowledgeable, I went from a narrow body
to a wide body. then I started looking at the cost of upgrades. Chip the
car need a 97. Big Reds cost this much. rear spoiler that much.
I found a nice C4S and it was gonna be 60k+ then upgrades and
superchargers etc etc. Its not that much more for a TT then there is
nothing left to do. Unless you listen to ViperBob!

Personally I'd go for the zenith Blue with Grey nice colors!

My car doesn't have ABD. I drive hard and track my car occasionally. I don't miss the ABD, even on the track. If I drove very hard in the rain, I might miss it. With the rear engine, traction on a dry road or track is just not a problem.

I would agree with speedraser. I don't have ABD/LSD and don't miss it one bit. I think a better LSD would come in handy at the track, but not the stock version as the stock version will just wear out pre-maturely with a lot of track time. The ABD could be great if you hit the wrong wet or icy patch during acceleration. I generally don't drive my car in these conditions, so I don't miss it.
