2017 993 Day at Palmer Motorsports Park Wednesday 10/11 X-Post
Hello Everyone -
The owner of Palmer Motorsports Park is graciously allowing me to host a gathering for 993 and other air/oil cooled owners. We will have track access for touring laps, a photo shoot, lunch and some cameradie from 9am to 4pm. Think of a cars & coffee event but at a racetrack.
Let it be known it is not my intention to snub water cooled owners, but I needed to limit the number of participants and since I own a couple of 993's . . . . all air/oil cooled cars are welcome.
Here is the plan. (Subject to change)
We will have track access for touring laps and a photo shoot from 9am to 4pm.
My detailer will be there to do a quick no charge wipe down (if so desired). He uses Menzerna and Sonax.
I’ll be providing coffee and doughnuts in the morning and pizza for lunch. Donations are welcome. If someone wants to do something else that is fine also.
We will have the facility for the day from 9am until 4pm. If there is enough interest, we may take a road trip tour to nearby Quabbin Reservoir for an additional scenic drive.
This is not a track day.
This is not a DE day.
The idea is to bring 993 owners together for a photoshoot and some camaraderie.
If you are a ******** or act like one frequently, please stay home.
No open alcohol is allowed until all cars are off track.
If we all behave and act respectable, it is possible this may become an annual event.
Palmer Motorsports Park is a new highly rated road course in central MA, and at its highest elevation commands a four state view.
Hopefully the weather will be nice. Columbus Day is usually the peak of our foliage season up here so hopefully there will be some great photo ops.
Anyone want to shoot a drone video?
Please RSVP by quoting this part of the post and adding your name to the list.

Very kind offer Al. Really wish I could be there to see the conga line of air cooled Porsches at Whiskey Hill. I will be observing Yom Kippur, however, and sadly won't be able to attend that day.
Hope to see you next week for PCA NER's return to Palmer. And looking forward to joining Palmer as a member next season - the track and the people are both awesome!

Incredible beautiful track there. Not much run off, lots of trees, but those straights, to hairpin, and elevation changes.....OMGoodness :-)
Wish I wasn't stuck in communist CA. This would be fun, even w/o being able to run track at speed. Top notch initiative :-)

Hope the weather is good!
My mechanic went through his rolodex this morning - (yes, rolodex, he is after all in his late 60's, still uses a flip phone too!) and started calling his customers. One of whom has his original '63 356 cab w/ 28k miles with original top he is bringing.
I'm thinking what we will do is 5 or 6 touring laps at the top of every hour. On the last touring lap we will stop at the top and take in the view. That way those who come at different times can take part. Then we will have a large parade with everyone at say 1pm or 2pm.
Anyone within two hours of Palmer should take the day off . . .
PMP is one hour W of Boston, 45 min. NE of Hartford, 1.5 hours SE of Albany and 2 hours north of NYC.
The map image below from April of this year has the GPS coordinates, but the physical address is: 58 West Ware Rd, Palmer, MA 01069
I'm told everyone uses the Google box to locate.
Regards,
