Thanks for all the replies guys. I guess I do just need to drive them both. I have driven the 996, but not the 993 or 997. I love the look of both cars, so that only adds to the difficulty!

993 is frozen in time, 997 is improved upon with 991 ..., as was the 996. If you have to ask, then a 993 probably isn't going to tick the boxes and will be the more expensive option up front and for maitnenance. Many will keep the 993 till they can't drive or die, not hearing the same for the typical H2O model owners. A better / sexier one is just a model change away. Unless they go mid-engine, then the last of the H20 models may achieve that last of the air cooled status.

And you are asking the 993 forum so YMMV.

$45K won't get you much of a 993. Or a 997.

Wait a while, and maybe the prices will continue to drop on the 997. They won't on the 993, however.

Goofball, I agree with you in regard to 993 prices. However, from what I've seen on auto trader, 45k gets you a wide range of 997 models, up to a "base" 997.2 or higher mileage 997.2S.

That's great! Unfortunately, 993 prices are such that there are slim pickings at $45K these days.

Either way, you can't lose. It's a nice dilemma. Good luck with your search, and make sure to drive both first before you decide

Exactly....blonde or brunette?

It's personal preference, but for me its 993 and brunettes. But I test rode blondes before making my choice.....
