Daytripping: Chicago to Madison
I am glad I went. I have been waking up at 4 every day recently so I just jumped in the car and took off. I hit the road at 5.
Filling up at daybreak.
No traffic of course. The shop opens at 7 am so I figured I'd get up there by 8 and have breakfast then go over.
I found a little bakery in a small town near Waunekee run by a ex-teacher who chucked the career to become a baker. Great muffins and they were fresh out of the oven.
I still had a little time to kill so I found a cheese shop( not freaking hard to do in Wisconsin).

At around 9, I headed over to Accumoto. It was in a non-descript industrial park like a lot of shops are.
I didn't have an appointment but the receptionist told me the owner, Mark White, was due in 5 minutes and that he'd talk to me. I really wasn't expecting that at all.
The lobby and shop are spotless and pretty damn nice. Lots of cool Porsche stuff to look at while I waited.
His shop is an air-cooled Porsche race shop and he builds very special cars for customers as well. Keep an eye out in the future for some articles about his builds.
Mark spent over an hour showing me around, let me take some photos and even gave me a shirt. Good dude.
I looked around a took some photos of a few customer cars and projects.
This Ghia will soon have a 911 motor in it!
After all that fun, I headed over to Madison to get some fresh ice cream from the UW dairy store. Hung out on the Terrace overlooking Lake Mendota and then hightailed it home.
I was gone for 8 hours, covered about 400 miles and saw some cool stuff. I have to do this again. Thanks again to Mark White. Check out his site here:

Next trip is out to New Mexico in about 10 days from now!
Take care 'Listers,
