993 16" cup wheels
My 993 came with the 16" cup wheels, however when I acquired the car the wheels where replaced with 17" twists. It would be nice to have a set even if they never see the car for originality purposes. Are these wheels rare and what is market for a good set?

The 16" Cup wheels for 993 (7"F & 9"R) are out there as many cars were delivered with them new. This thread and perhaps a "want to buy" thread in parts marketplace might find you a set.

The pcar TSB linked to above is a 1998 document. As such it is not representative of what was available when the 993 was being produced - for instance it lists many of the 996 and 986 wheels.
The 993 would have been supplied possibly on 17" 'Cup Design 93' wheels, or the photographed 16" wheel above which is the 'Cup Design 93 Winterrad'
I'd go for the Cup Narrowspoke in 16
Please see this resource for the details on all of these wheels.

These are probably the least expensive 993 OEM wheels you can buy. If you paid $500 for a mint set you've probably overpaid by a bit

I bought my 993 in early 1996...came with the stock 16" Cup wheels. They were a perfect daily driver/real world road choice. I sold them and put on 17s and regretted it immediately. They only offered an advantage on high speed tracks...but nothing for the street or highway. Only flat I ever suffered was with a 17. The "big wheel" cult fantasy is just that. Of course dealers love it because they get a premium markup when they get you to drink the koolaid. The 19s, 20s, and now 21s are just as absurd as stuffing gym socks in your underwear...it don't mean a thing.

I"m just happy to have a set of the original wheels that match the original build spec. Doubtful I'll ever use them but one never knows. Also, as time goes on we all know what happens to Porsche part prices.
