Thanks Rinty - great to meet you too and I am sure we'll meet up in the while. Starting to think about renting the Vernon house in the above pics on some weekend and inviting everyone out. Cheers.

Default 2016 Epic Adventure... final route map.

For anyone looking for an 'epic' run here is the final route we took. Thanks again to Jeff (waterhound) in his 996 cab and Ken (keninirvine) in his Macan S for joining me on this most excellent epic adventure! I really appreciate the companionship, not to mention the security on having you guys there while driving a new-to-me older car in the rain! :]

That would be fun, and closel to a number of great roads. You will want to try 31A between New Denver and Kaslo. Then lunch on the deck at the Kaslo Hotel!

I drove in the Alcan 5000 Rally in 2002. Kinda reminds me of it seeing your map. Great roads and scenery. Glad you had a good time and made it home with no mechanical issues.

That must have been a GREAT run! It would be great to do a rally sometime.

No mechanical issues - just funky windshield wipers and rather dim (by today's standards!) headlights! Other than these minor things the car ran like a dream. Love the instant response of an NA flat six!

I see an HID conversion in your future. VERY common upgrade on these cars.

I'm amazed how ****ty even the factory litronics are. I know they're 20 year old technology but ****! They really just make the light blue more than anything else.

I had originally looked at "upgrading" to the Litronics but this looks like NOT the way to go!

Ken generously forwarded me the following links to Tore.

"FYI, here are links to the light sets that Tore sells. They are worth it IMO. The HID kit is really a clean install.

What are friends for if they don’t help you spend your money!"

A lot of people (myself included) went with Tore's lights. He makes great quality stuff, and is excellent to deal with.

Fantastic way to get know your new car, glad to hear you arrived home safely.

Too bad that beautiful turbo bumper will now have to be sullied with a front-mounted license plate..

I have a new in the box U.S. Millworks lightened front plate mount kit (fits into the tow hook mount) that I am about to list for sale, and I'm local. PM if interested. http://www.usmillworks.com/porsche_f..._tow_hook.html

Thanks guys. That is the question out here - to mar the front bumper with a license plate or not? For now... I am going to wait and enjoy it the way it is. If push comes to shove, I have a Millworks tow-hook system that came with my Boxster Spyder I may use. Or I may do like I have on the Spyder - securely and lightly adhere it with 3M All-weather double side tape. It's super strong and works fantastic - and I can position it nice and low.

Time will tell...

I thought front plates were mandatory in BC, but if not, just leave 'em off. Not required (or issued) in Alberta, thankfully.

Or maybe consider a retractable license plate holder like the show 'n go:
