Default My internet order 993 bride... honeymoon trip

Hi guys - this is the big count down week to next Saturday when I fly into Calgary, AB and meet my internet order 993 bride. Whoo hoo!

A big shot out to both Bert Leemburg and Brian Cameron for their help in flat-decking the car to Brian's house for storage and to Brian for his over-the-top help in sourcing a new battery and installing it. Thanks so much guys. I am excited!!

Then the honeymoon trip home begins.

I always read about you guys using radar detectors Do you really speed that much? I don't know but i rarely drive quickly these days. Im sure some of it is due to where you live but again, how often do you speed? I drove from Miami to Daytona last week and I set the cruise control at the speed limit the entire time and still managed to make it there in 4 hours each way. Never worried about the infamous Florida State Troopers...

For me, radar detectors aren't about speeding. Instead, they give some situational awareness to avoid ticket-happy police who write hefty tickets for often very small infractions.

I don't know if a $400 ticket is warranted for a 6-mph over speed limit violation, but it is a fact of life these days and happens all the time, now that the states are broke and police are used as highway robbers for revenue enhancement.

Anyway guys, good luck with the trip!

Enjoy the ride! A road trip is a great way to get to know a new car.

Just a suggestion, if you've got the time maybe consider going through Cranbrook and the Kootenays on the ride home. Lots more interesting roads that way and less traffic.

And please post pics!

I agree, on straight, flat freeway with lots of traffic, you can't drive fast safely. But every now and then, I drop out of the trees onto an empty sweeper stringing into the valley below and I can't help myself.

Sorry, that's not Florida is it.

I think a detector would be a wise investment on this inaugural trip where there may be some desire to press the loud pedal. Remember, the first time it beeps pays for it, the second and subsequent is money in the bank

Have a great trip, Zeus! You'll enjoy driving it on the scenic route.

I ride the east part of your route every year, to the Kootenays. You'll particularly enjoy the Glory Road (31A) between Kaslo and New Denver. Fish Lake, at the summit, is a good spot for a picture:

You may want to check out the Leland Hotel in Leland: it's the oldest in B.C.

Zeus, I thought about offering to drive you there in my 993, and then we could drive back with both of them. And we could use my Valentine to help avoid traps. It would be a great drive. Unfortunately my steering wheel hasn't returned from Carsdream yet. But we could have gone in my Macan I suppose.
Enjoyed your recent article in the Timberline magazine (PCA-Canada West Region) about your purchase experience, and look forward to seeing that beauty in Vancouver soon. If I hadn't purchased my C4S last May, I would have been sorely tempted to acquire that gorgeous C2S. Enjoy the drive! I'm envious.

For a drive like this or thru any of the back mountain scenic roads in the PNW, cruise control doesn't exist. We are probably just spoiled to have access to these types of roads. But then again we don't have summer all year long.

I fully concur. While I use CC a lot on the Interstates, which are patrolled quite heavily in my area, I never us it on mountain roads or interesting highways where you can actually drive the car rather than pointing it.

Waze is more populated areas has made the need for a radar detector obsolete.

Congrats on the ride and have fun on your drive.
