Good thing Joel & Ocean Blue got outta dodge when they did, those summer tires would not have liked this morning's weather.
Yes, that is snow.

Joel demonstrating proper technique for starting a car that hasn't run in several weeks:
- first, remove DME
- second, crank engine in several short bursts to build oil pressure
- third, re-install DME (shown below)
- fourth, start engine normally

So, Jeff (Water Hound) and I met up yesterday morning in Osoyoos BC to meet Joel in Nelson for lunch and a fun ride through the Kootenays to Vernon and on to Vancouver for Joel and Jeff. They have more energy than me to be willing to get home in the middle of the night after a full day of adventurous driving.
Here are a couple of photos, the first of which is the three of us in Nelson at noon, followed by one of may road trip photos which I have yet to download. We had a wonderful day, even though it was wet. I would have preferred to have been in my C4S, but the Macan performed well for me as usual. We already discussed our next adventure on the back roads of BC and Washington state.

Hi guys! After a farewell send off drive with Bert and Brian I braved the Cowboy Trail (Hwy 22) south of Longview, AB bristling with fuzz (thanks Brian for your Escort 8500 - it came in handy more than once). Once past this I had a chance to open up the 993 and stretch her legs. Holy cow! What a blast! This car is unbelievably stable - if fact more so than the 06 C2S I first had. It hunkers down and just goes.

I hit Hwy 3 and passed west through the Rockies at Crow's Nest Pass, stayed the night with friends in Cranbrook, coffee'd up in the morning and gunned up the 3A on the east side of Kootenay Lake.
After the 22, this is another "best" road to drive as it dipped and dove along the lake shore. Super fun and not much traffic.

I finally arrived at Kootenay Bay, crossed over to Balfour on the ferry and continued down and over on the 3A to Nelson and met up with Jeff (waterhound) and Ken (keninirvine) for lunch. From here we hit what I agree with Brian IS the "BEST" road to drive, the Hwy 6 up through the Slocan Valley.

Note the water-cooled repair Jeff is performing.![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
And this is where the weather socked in. I don't think Bert every drove the C2S too much in the rain but there was just no way around it. She just hunkered down and ate up the rainy miles in true 993 style (but what’s with these wind shield wipers? Yeesh! ). We ended up meeting Derek (ginch) and his stunning 993 C4S just south of Vernon where a bunch of Calgary and Vancouver auto enthusiasts get together every year on the Canadian May long weekend. Incredible display of Porsche, Audi's, and VW's.

The party broke up as Ken peeled off at Kelowna and headed south and Jeff and I braved more inclement weather and ran to the coast. We got in at 3am, tired but well satisfied on the drive. The "new bride" is now safely home and ready for a clean up!
A sincere heartfelt thank-you to Bert and Evelyn for their help and patience. You guys are awesome. And to Brian & Cathy Cameron for his storage and work on the car in my absence. And to Rinty and Brian – thanks for coming out and for your pointers on the car and helping me get it started. And great to meet you Derek and your buddies. What a blast.
All in all a great, very, very EPIC trip guys.

Yeah Joel thanks for taking the time to swing by. It was good to meet you all. Now that you've owned the car for a few days, I'm curious as to your thoughts!
