So I'm looking to make an investment in the form of a 911, but want to know what you all think, as you are far more knowledgeable than I am about them.

I personally hate this investment thinking - it ruins the fun of owning a 911 for me.
People "investing" in this market raise the value beyond what is easily insurable, increases the probability of theft, increases concern if the car is damaged and even if miles are accumulated on the odometer, etc.
All issues which make it harder to enjoy the car for what I own it for - driving and working on it.
My 2 cents, now you can get back to the topic of ruining the fun.

A little late to the party OP
However, back in 1995 I was renting a townhouse and was doing really well and wanted a 911 since I was 7, and the new 993 was just amazing. The dealer told me that I didn't have enough xyz to finance a 993, and then the best advice EVER came from a car salesman, he said without owning a house I was screwed. So I went out and bought a house and then bought the 993 the next year.
Just sold the house and put 600K in my pocket and I still have the 993. Best investment ever.
