Keep in mind the performance gain is more dependent on the car than the chip. Most chip probably increase/push the timing a bit. If the car follows the new timing map and sees knock, it will automatically dial the timing back down. So little or no gain.

This seemed to be depending on the car, mods done, the car's condition, gas quality, etc.
