Default Radio question...

I recently bought a new-to-me 96 993... with standard factory black radio/cassette player

Prior owner had put a stick-em note in the glove box with the radio code...but I enter it into the unit and the unit doesn't recognize it...keeps unit locked up, keeps asking for code...

What now? Can the radio be removed and the correct code is somewhere on the back or side of the unit?

Thanks in advance for any input, advice or hints...

I haven't done this myself in awhile, but if memory serves, you enter the 4 digit code and then press the up arrow on the far right to accept the code.

You don't have to remove the radio to verify the code. You can provide your VIN and proof of ownership to your local dealer and they can look up the radio, alarm and immobilizer codes for you.

If that's true...just WOW....lots of previous threads about lost radio codes and I've never seen that suggestion. Need to check mine

Just checked my ashtray. No sticker, no code, no evidence a sticker was ever there.
