Luftgekuhlt 2015 was an awesome show. The event was more than just great cars. Hopefully the crowds won't grow too large now that the words out. I'm looking forward to it rain or shine.

Wow what an event. Great things about this year's event and some not so great things. All in all, this has become a premier event. Unfortunately it took an hour and a half to get parked in the main venue even though I was a little early for the time that I was given as a web registrant. I think people showed up way earlier than they were supposed to and it overwhelmed the crew working the event. The people working the event are awesome people. Very cool and professional so I am not knocking them - they were working hard. Many cars were overheating due to idling so long though. Once in, I couldn't believe the cars. Just about everything was there on display. Multiple GT2's and RS's. 934/5's, 904/6's a 49 Gmund and several other rare cars. I do feel it lost some of the intimacy the prior two years and venues offered. Clearly I can see why air cooled values have been moving up as this was an enormous crowd and it seemed like there is a 'new' following that is building around these cars. It was cool to see the passion for these cars yet I have to wonder if they will ever be able to regain some of the intimacy and uniqueness of prior events (especially last year's). To me it looks like this is only going to be bigger next year as each year the crowds have probably doubled with each year. I will definitely go again next year - and hope the parking is a little better :thumbup:

Enjoyed the Kühlt cult - you could feel the Luft love in the air! So many propeller-heads & cool cars in 1 groovy setting. 1 of many highlights was meeting new RLers & old friends like race911, 993C4Rs, producerjohn, C4SJOHN, spdklz, TheBen, salo65, Kika, gonzilla, AZ Targa, jbronsonl, Tony, Frankie & more. Met an air-cooled fan who drove out from GA. Heard attendees even visited from other countries. Artsee-- Thanks for your time answering my PM about entrance procedures. Eichlerman-- Tim, hope my answer to your PM about entrance procedures helped. |

Great to see everyone!
I won't bother posting photos of the event--you can see, as Autoweek said in their coverage today, ONE BILLION on the web. So I just did my part on the 993 Facebook page, as reporter on the scene. I will post one from the Petersen, where we ended up after the event. What I'd take home? The white 993 GT2, of course. Honorable mention for Canepa's 934--a car I saw 100% apart at their last C&C event of 2015. |
Jäger, it was great meeting and talking with both of you and your wife yesterday.. I hope to talk with you again in a near future/event. It was a fun day with Porsche motor heads, great people and cars....

It was a fun day. So many amazing cars, but some of my favorites were the Carrera GS, Seinfeld's GTS and Emory's outlaw. Super cool to hang out with old friends like Jäger, Keith, Walrod, etc, and meet some new ones too! I couldn't believe how big this thing has gotten!!! I'll post some pics soon too as soon as I get them of my camera. |

So, the day started at a friend's nearby shop. Kika joined in, but was camera shy. A couple of the Rauh Welts showed up.

I had a little trouble connecting with all the 993 RL'ers amidst the sea of people from other p-car factions, so maybe for the next one we should plan a RL993 after-party somewhere. |

opportunity arose to buy Fikse FM10's. The offsets were very aggressive for an NB 993. I met up with the seller and test fit the wheels. I bought the wheels and slapped on a set of RE71R's in 265/35/18 rear and 235/40/18 front and they fit like a freakin' glove! I am extremely satisfied with the end result. The car is currently sitting on M030 shocks with H&R springs. Great pics as usual and thanks for sharing!! 18x8.5 ET51 front 18x10 ET44 rear The rear fitment is fairly aggressive and folks swore up and down that they'd never fit. They fit killer with a minor fender roll. I had the car corner balanced and aligned with a bit of camber in the rear (not for the sake of fitting the wheels, but for canyon and occasional track duty), so that helped as well. The face sticking out on the front wheels is due to the high offset. Kinda cool imo. Although there are much more extreme examples out there, where folks reverse mount BBS faces. I have 2 tickets to get in and one air cooled parking ticket so IF you have a Guards Red 993 C4S AND are the first to respond that has a Guards Red 993 C4S the tickets are yours...free. I cannot guarantee they will let the car in, however. |
If you don't find the guards red c4s let me know as I could use two additional tix and would love the parking pass as it was sold out for me.

AJ the parking passes are not transferable, I was hoping to find someone with a 993 Guards Red C4S as that is what is stated on the pass. I do not know if they will check the name against an id.

Guy's I just got an update email from Patrick Long regarding the event. I have never attended before so I'm not sure if this is normal or because of the new venue. He said due to the size the paid to park air-cooled car parking will be in an adjacent parking lot across from the primary show. He did not elaborate on access from the public attending or how close it is. I'm sure as others have said certain unique cars will be selected and moved into the primary show. You guys may know all this but thought I would add this info. Rain forecasted too for Sunday. We will be there rain or shine but debating on taking the car or not.

I'll be driving up from Oceanside about 5:00AM in order to be able to park in the air cooled parking for which I paid.
The event starts at 7:00 AM and runs until 2:00PM. I don't know if parking opens at 7:00AM, or earlier, or how this dealio is going to work so I'd like to get down there early to figure it out. Stop and get some coffee and a bite to eat before parking maybe... Also, I'm an amateur auto photographer and want to make good use of my camera. So, the earlier the better to be able take photos of everything. If anyone wants to gumball rally it down there, let me know. |

Nice to finally meet Rudy! Beautiful Turquoise Blue 993! Jager, always good to see you. You and your wife looked great, along with speedy! You did a fantastic job with the Speedsters. Patrick was right in choosing you. I know you put a lot of work into making it a success. Thank you for the shout out and posting pictures of the Speed Yellow 993. Hope to see RLers at PECLA (Porsche Experience Center Los Angeles). We have a great time with all the different modules, rare cars and the 917 Restaurant and Bar. Until Monterrey week or sooner! |
What a weekend! I am very grateful for all of the Rennlisters I was able to meet and spend some time with. Bummed I didn't get to meet more. The event was HUGE!

The event was phenomenal. An absolute kid-in-a-candy store experience. It was great meeting so many air-cooled enthusiasts and hanging out with some long-time friends. Thanks for all the great pictures guys. I was bummed to find out that it was on the same weekend that I had to be out of town to attend my daughters college graduation and my nieces wedding. I won't miss next year.
