Default What's the right price

I could really use some help here and would greatly appreciate some knowledgeable feedback.

After a long serious search for a 96 or 97 c2 coupe I have come upon a very desirable example. It is a 96 in a very acceptable, at least to me, color combo. It has been owned long term by a highly knowledgeable 993 owner who has his cars scrupulously maintained at the highest level by a very respected indy tech .

Among other things, it has had a top end rebuild, recent clutch, plugs and plug wires. It is very well sorted with many attractive mods including a full M030/RS suspension upgrade and limited slip among other things.

It has standard seats and a very nice clean interior. Original paint in excellent condition. No accident history.

So far, so good. I probably could have come up with the answer myself. Here's the part I can't figure out. The car has mileage in the low 90 thousand area. Assuming a squeaky clean PPI what is a proper price to pay for such an example?

I would really appreciate knowledgeable and serious feedback on what people think as I know it exists here.

Sounds like a nice example. Some important maintenance items done. I'd put it at about $40k.

This is a "sold in a few hours price" if color combo is a desirable one.

Default price With Right Upgrades

If this is a Car that is Documented and Verifiable
Top End - Suspension
Give a Deposit and get it in writing then Investigate the Car has what u r told.

Ultimately Well Maintained and Correctly Upgraded with all the right Bits (RS) to your liking 45 is a No Brainer.

When was the Top End - Mileage >?
What was Changed or Upgraded in the Motor?
Why was Rebuild Necessary?

Any Gear Box work >?
Do u want a LSD Car? Has it been changed?
How was the car used>? Driver ? DE Race car?

Do u want RS Suspension?
Does the upgrade include All Arms as well as Sways?

Have the Struts been changed >? To What ?

Colour - If they r what u like all the More Value.

A 90,000 Mile car with Records -
How much will it need to satisfy a Perfectionist with OCD >?

If she does not need anything now 45 easy
Tie it up with a Conditional Sales Contract to Purchase then Post.

hell i might buy that car myself - Get the point?

Thanks for the input. If at any time such a car car had been available for under 50 I would have grabbed it already. Current owner is totally OCD about his cars. Immaculate in every way. M030 suspension with OEM RS sways over Bilstein HDs. RS motor mounts, etc. Top end done as a factory recall. Owner requires nothing other than OEM parts be used for everything. Never tracked. Has seen 2 DE classes. Color is Polar Silver over black. OEM Porche short shift. Other nice trinkets as well. When owner went to 18s from 17s he bought new factory wheels from dealer. That kind of owner.

Unfortunately this opens up the possibility that the top end will have to be done again at some point if the factory valve guides were used.

Desirable color combo, solid maintenance history, sounds like if its +/- $3-5k from where you ideally want to be, that'll be noise over the next several years of enjoyment for buying a good example.

I had pretty much the same things done to my 1995 993 with 95,000 miles on it, plus a little more. Interior is excellent. Wouldn't take less than 55k. Polar silver and black. Fwiw..

So I read into this, the owner wants above $50k for the car?

Maintenance history seems good...at what mileage was the top end done?

What kinda oil consumption is this OCD owner seeing?

Average miles he drive per year, etc...

Any nice options on the car?

In today's market, $50 is a good number. Like they say...you also buy the owner.

Default How Much ? What Mileage 4 Rebuild? with Docs?

Sounds like the Car I am driving except it has 108 on Dealer Rebuild.

RS Sway Bars - Ok Good $2000 +

Bilsteins - Same here - Good for the street.Ne3cessary repair with this Mileage

What about RS Arms ?
RS Motor Mounts - sounds like while u r in there - should not be needed

Sounds like a Caring Owner
Depending on How Long ago and How Many Miles / Oil consumption = $
need Rebuild data

Emissions Test
Compression Test
Leek Down Test Results
Verification of All of the Above

A 96 Coupe with 110 and a recent Valve Job just sold for $42
Proably needs $2 K

Need data - so what does he want Guessing $50 maybe
Any more n hav to consider Sales Comps

If its everything u WANT Go for it - Make an Offer

Not likely. Dealers also sublet heads. So it should be easy enough to follow that paper trail.
