I drove my car a personal best 9,000 miles last season (2020). It was trouble free until the very end when, in less than two weeks, someone damaged the clear coat on rear bumper while the car was parked and unattended, then steering rack started leaking, and finally I hit what I think was a paving stone on the freeway. That last misadventure damaged front right MY02 wheel beyond repair. At that point the season was mostly over anyway and I mothballed the car.
When a hoist became available (and with some groundwork laid) I delivered the car to my shop in December. I brought it back yesterday, so figure it qualifies on this thread. While it was there:
-A previously sourced replacement wheel and all three other wheels were powder coated since original powder coat could not be matched.
-Two new front tires installed, since one was damaged.
-Four wheel alignment since front right took a pretty hard hit. No suspension or under carriage damage, thankfully.
-Steering rack rebuilt and reinstalled.
-New kinematic lever installed because clutch pedal was frequently sticking on return. Short drive home, but what a difference!
Worst part, besides paying for it, was backing the car up our ice covered driveway which is pictured above. This driveway only leads to my single stall “Porsche garage” so it doesn’t get used in the winter. Nonetheless it would usually be clear except for an unusual December rainstorm that froze solid. Anyway, even though the 993 wasn’t being used, knowing it was broken irritated every single OCD nerve I have. Next spring I’ll repair the bumper cover and pile on miles while waiting for the next huge, expensive disaster(s) to strike. Too bad I enjoy the 993 so much!-but it won’t be for sale anytime soon.
Bought this in March, hit a deer in July, just got the car back last week from Euro Pros in Gaithersburg MD. Simply "wow". Amazing work, great folks and service. Next up...Bilstein B6's, H&R springs, adjustable sway bars, new bushings, lower ride height, alignment, corner balanced. Have a set of Ruf Speedline 17's to try...may be too heavy. It's all fun.

I thought I saw my 993 pic. Couple months ago, I hit a deer on a highway ramp. I was going about 20 to 30 miles. The damage was very similar, a broken passenger headlight and a dent on the hood. I replaced both headlight lenses because they were yellowing and went with a local paintless dent removal shop for the hood because I did not wanted a paint job on my 993. It turned out really good. I don't plan to sell my car and my son already reserved it when I don't (can't) drive it anymore because of my old age!

Founder’s Day event with the local PCA followed by an oil oopsy. Oil cap wasn’t secured the entire time we were driving around today...
My oil cap leaked one time. I double gasket now. I sprayed about 12 oz of Simple Green from the top and removed the mufflers and cleaned the underside.

I was on the highway, doing 55-60, coming around a bend on a mountainside, and there it was. Besides what you see as obvious, cowl was bent at deck lid hinges, passenger door and mirror scraped, etc., etc. Basically, all new/repaired front end. Had the car painted both sides through the doors. Took "opportunity" to do the ROW bumper and lights, new headlight lenses, and added the RS splitter and side skirts. It was a beautifully maintained driver, all original with age appropriate wear, and a forever car for me. I also have a son next in line. This car deserved a top notch repair.
Chamber of Commerce weather today. I bought the 303 convertible top cleaner conditioner on Amazon. About $30. Cleaned my cabriolet top with with a soft brush and applied the conditioner.
I taped off the windows and plastic rear window with Frog tape from HD. Oddly, I had more issues with tape residue than with the conditioner. I also had a few drips on the paint. Cheap rubbing alcohol on a paper towel takes off the over spray on the paint and glass.
I’ll let it dry overnight and poor a little water on it for a test.
Multiple projects going on at once but one was cutting apart the mufflers and modifying internally. May have overshot it a bit. I thought it would be loud...and it is.
