Post New Member Question: Who's Gert?

Good Morning fellas. I am a brand-new member (I just submitted my credit card number and don't have a number yet) and am very impressed with the site and the info available to us Porsche-fanatics. Two questions from the "new guy" for you old pros out there: Who is "Gert", what kind of outfit does he run, and how do I get in touch with him? And, who has the new Bilstein PSS-9 kit for the best price? I saw it in Performance Products for $2800 and wondered if it can be had for less than that. I have a '97 993 C2 Coupe that is 100% stock that I am considering lowering but want it "done right". Thanks guys

David
Welcome. Gert is an extremely knowledgeable Rennlist sponsor & vender in Belgium who sells a whole range of Porsche parts. If you do a "search" for "gert" you'll find an overwhelming # of positive comments. I can't recall ever reading anything negative. Service is flawless, communication prompt, information accurate, delivery is fast & Gert's prices are the best. That's about it.

Just one of the many "Gert's great links:"

welcome to this 993 family. you will enjoy your experience here as well as learn a great deal about your car.

then, as time goes on, you will be an addict of the rennlist and will have to go to meetings and admit it these meetings are usually held at racetracks around the country.

David,
Welcome...I will just second the above comments about Gert. You will find no one more user friendly and promt than him and his prices seem to be the best

Gert is an evil, evil man. He is nothing more than a high octane drug dealer who somehow makes his high quality parts cheaper and easier to obtain than anyone in THIS country. Don't get sucked in!! Once you buy from him, you will buy over and over and over until you've maxed out your credit cards, lost your house, and are living in your perfectly upgraded Porsche!

He's a bad man.....a very, very bad man.....

I also will go along whole-heartedly with the positive comments with Gert. I have dealt with him, and it has been all positive. I e-mailed him asking him if he had a toll-free number he could be reached at, and he just told me to e-mail him with a number to call, and he would call me back. Yeah right, I thought. I did, and in less than a half hour, the phone rang. I've used that method regularly.

The bodyshop was also very impressed with the quality of parts. Keep in mind that they charge by the hour for prep time. The money saved in buying cheap parts can very quickly be eaten up in prep time.

I just received the Turbo S intakes from Gert this week. I was a little hesitant to pay $50 for shipping. The "discount" Porsche dealerships in the states, who are considerably cheaper than the local dealership, couldn't get the parts to me in less than 7 days, and wanted $20 for shipping. And their price was $150 more than Gert's before the 15% markup!!! I don't know how he does it.

Thanks for all the great advice for a "new Guy". I can sense that we all have the same standards for our cars: only the best will do and we are willing to do whatever it takes to achieve that end. I called Gert directly and have a box of trick "Euro Porsche" bits on an airplane right now for my beloved 993 C2. A most pleasant experience all around! Now if I can figure out how to "customize" my Posts like you guys do so I can fit in with the bunch. (The nifty info of cars, pics, etc.) Any advice? By the way, my membership # is 3255...and I'd only visited the site twice until I got on board. Thanks guys.

Welcome. Here's how to get a custom avatar (picture):

[quote]Originally posted by John D.:
... if you would like a picture of YOUR car as an Avatar, please also send it to me in an e-mail admin@rennlist.com along with your Board User # (like mine is (#4)) and your Rennlist Member Number. Since I have to manually make these Avatars, I need to limit "personal" ones to Rennlist Members only (sorry!). If you are a member, and send me a picture - I'll e-mail you privately that it is all set for you. When you get notified it is set up - you will see a "Custom" selection in your Avatar selection - and that is your personal car as your Avatar which no one else can use..!!

For a custom, automated signature click on "my profile" at the top, click on "Update Profile," scroll down to "Signature" and add whatever you wish, including web links in the following format:
"NAME OF LINK"

You will love Gert. This one has his euro front bumper, turbo S air scoops, front protection bar, aluminum shifter and brake handle in cashmere leather. Let's see, Christmas is coming.....
