Surflex or Leatherique long term updates
For those who have used either Color Plus' Surflet or Leatherique to re-dye their seats, I ask that you please provide a long term update on your results. When posting, please mention when you completed the re-dye, how often you drive it, current condition, any other observations.
Thanks in advance!

I used Color Plus. Leatherique black is not really black enough. Color Plus lasts about 5 years of daily driving until the creases begin to appear again. Daily is really daily, going to work, lunch, drive home, going grocery shopping, etc.

Color Plus' leather conditioner, Soffener, is an excellent product, too.

I used Color Plus / Surflex on my Classic Grey seats in June 2011, about 16,000 miles ago. My car is a year round daily driver although, now that I work from home, it gets less use. Current mileage is 101k.
The color match was perfect and wear has been as I expected. There are now visible creases (not cracks) in the driver's side and bottom bolsters. Some areas where creases intersect have a few tiny, pinpoint-size white spots showing but you'd have to look carefully to see them.
When I did the seats I also dyed the vinyl airbag cover. It had small wear areas where black was showing through the grey. That piece still looks perfect as does the console, which I dyed at the same time.

I used the Color Plus/Surflex on my Classic Grey seats and was very happy with the color match. Creases started showing up after about a year, but it is very easy to re-apply. I am satisfied.

Same experience with black. After the first application, it is so easy to touch up the tough spots that show up after a while.

Buy the prep stuff from Leatherique and the dye from Color Plus.
And get a cheap air spray from Harbor Freight. No matter how much I tried, I can't get smooth and even finish without using the air spray. It's like $15 with coupon. Use it then throw it away if you like.

This thread inspired me - ordered my 90 cashmere/beige from Color Plus today. A winter storage project in the heated garage.
BTW, ehanaeur, I spoke to Color Plus on the phone and they make every batch fresh. Is you send a search from under your seat, or your shifter boot, they will provide a guaranteed color match.

Looks like next Tuesday will be 10 years since I re-dyed the seats in my SC. No fading, no creases, no cracks. I should take some pictures and update the thread I started back in 2005.

It is stored indoors, so no constant UV impact; I don't drive it much, probably around 1000 miles a year, and I don't slide across the bolsters. I lift over them since sport seat bolsters are very susceptible to wear.
I'm sure if I drove it more, there would be more wear. That's a given. The only wear spot after 10 years on my seats is where the seat belt has rubbed on the piping. It's not even worth a touch up.
The secret is not to take short cuts in the dyeing process and just take the time to do it right. No complaints from me about Leatherique dye, cleaning, or rejuvenator. They work,at least for me, as advertised.
Also, lower down in the thread, I show where I re-dyed my carpet as well.
