Default Seinfeld selling vintage Porsches

Jerry Seinfeld Is Selling His Million-Dollar Vintage Porsches 2016-01-19 20:14:37.255 GMT By Hannah Elliott (Bloomberg) --

Jerry Seinfeld is selling some of his Porsches at an auction in March. This is big news because while he is a well-known car collector and Porsche aficionado, Seinfeld is notoriously cagey about how many, and which, cars he actually owns. The actor/comedian famously hosts chatty Crackle show Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee (in which President Obama even guest- starred), but most of the cars featured on that show do not belong to him. One Porsche that did—a 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS—he famously called a “dead man’s” car because he bought it from the estate of a man who had died, and he himself planned to own the car until he died as well. The cars Seinfeld will sell March 11 at the Amelia Island Auction, apparently, are not in that category. According to a Gooding & Co. press release, the selection of “consignments” from the official Jerry Seinfeld Collection will include a 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder, a 1958 Porsche 356 A 1500 GS/GT Carrera Speedster, and a 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 IROC RSR. Each of the cars is valued at well over $1 million; the 550 Spyder is expected to sell for as much as $6 million. “I've never bought a car as an investment,” Jerry Seinfeld said in a written statement. “I don't really even think of myself as a collector. I just love cars. And I still love these cars. But it's time to send some of them back into the world for someone else to enjoy.” Gooding will preview the cars at its auction in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Jan. 27. Didn't he use the 550 Spyder for Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee with Kevin Hart?

I like Jerry's attitude, "time to let others enjoy".

I guess he's keeping the '73 RSR that was hit by a woman driving a newish BMW in the Hamptons in 2014.

Jerry is probably the last owner to have enjoyed these cars as they will likely never be driven again...

You are only thinking in a limited view of "enjoy". But I agree with you.

Others "enjoy" by looking at them and possessing them, only.

Then again, I'm pretty sure JS is not driving many of them much either.

To each their own.

Bulls make money, bears make money, pigs get slaughtered. Vintage Porsches in 2016 = real estate in 2006.

NOPE-the difference being that "vintage" isn't being made any more. They're still making houses. Bubble was about easy financing, not supply and demand

Jerry has such a great collection!

It must be hard to let these go.

I'm sure he will be buying several different ones. Just thinning out.

Are those original colors? They seem odd.
