Default Audi R8 LMS vs 993 at the track

Don't know if this video has been seen before but that little 993 was a bullet with no intentio to loose any position.

Too bad that Audi couldn't keep up with the 993. It was hard to get a good look at it. Clearly that 993 was built and driven with speed in mind. Wow did it hold its lead over that much newer Audi.

That's Jürg Aeberhards 993 GT2 EVO. He has retired that car and races a 997 GT3-R now.

You can find a lot of nice videos of him racing the GT2 on YouTube. Just search for "Aeberhard GT2"

The Audi is at least 200HP down. At least if it's in spec for whatever series they were running in 2011. Probably running close to 3000 lbs, too.

I'm sure you could roll out a 35 year old sprint spec 935 from the end of the line, whether factory, Kremer, or aftermarket (Klym) built, and smoke both of those.........

And a quick check showed a street 991 GT3 RS about 10 sec/lap off what these guys were doing. How is that for insane?

2014 German Supercup (that is driven in conjunction with the F1 races) Qualifying winning lap at Hockenheim in a 991 CUP was 1:43:493 (http://dedeporsche.com/2014/07/19/po...enheimgermany/)

Jürg Aeberhards qualifying time for 2011 TCC race was 1:41.704 (http://www.motorsport-xl.de/news/201...hard-2934.html)

Insane? No. Fast? Definitely yes! Who said anything about insane?

Street car. As in with license plate. As in could have faked it as a vending delivery vehicle today. I'm amazed how far we've come. (Granted, the race car part of it is a bit dumbed down today with everything from intake restrictions to aero limitations.)

I see it that way that the 991 GT3RS is a helluva fast street car. I mean it's a mere 6-7 seconds off the pace of a professionally driven 991 CUP on slicks.
