Default Questions About 996 Sport Seat Install

Hey Guys,

I've gone through all the posts I could find in searches and didn't see this addressed. I am in the middle of swapping in some 996 GT3 seats into my 1996 NB, you obviously have to swap over the 993 seat belt receptacles onto the 996 seats but my question is what do you do about the electrical wire running from the original 996 seat belts? I'm guessing it is letting the car know the belt is buckled?

Also, and this is possibly hoping against hope that someone knows the answer; Any idea on which wire (brown / red) goes into which numbered hole on the original 993 harness?

Thanks Guys.......Mark.

I think both Lucky J and I covered this previously, but my memory is failing, otherwise I could tell you off the top of my head!

Here you go!

I remembered I had taken a pic of the wire set up previously.

Much Appreciated Guys!!!!

After 996's reply I dug deeper and found the wiring instructions, The above help is also great!!

But even after the digging I have yet to see what you are supposed to do about the wiring coming out of the original 996 seat belt receptacle? I know I'm going to feel like a idiot when someone points out the not so obvious to me........

Here is a picture of the 993 seat belt buckle already attached to the 996 Sport Seat. The 996 seat belt buckle is hanging above it, my question is about what to do with the wire with the yellow arrow pointing to it, I did not see that addressed in anything I've read thus far.

I'm 99.9% sure I cut it and capped it off. Unless there was a connector that was easily removed, cant recall.

The sensor doesn't exist on the 993. There is no use for it.

Pretty sure there is a seat belt sensor on the 993...When I removed my 993 seat belt, and attached it to the 996 hb sport seat, I simply plugged it back in from whence it came.

You're right, there is a sensor on the drivers side seat belt assembly, but not the passenger side. So much for 99.9% sure.

CoreSeller, do you have a sensor cable on the drivers side? that pic looks like the passenger seat.

In the 993 the seat belt wiring just enables the nanny light. If you leave it unpluged no more nanny light.
This wire that is attached to the 996 receptacle is for the 996 and is not used for the 993. Just remove it with the 996 receptacle.

Thanks Guys. Yes that was the passenger seat, I did check the buckle on the original 993 driver's seat which is still mounted in the car and did not see any sort of wire coming out of it's buckle, will be more sure when I remove the seat from the car later.

Thanks Again for the help, this forum is Great!!!!!!

P.S. If any of you gurus have the definitive answer on the wire / if it is needed I'd appreciate it.

I wanted to update this for anyone down the road who runs a search.

There IS a wire coming out of the drivers seat belt buckle only on the original 993 seats, it is easily disconnected by snipping 3 zip ties holding it in place under the seat frame. It is connected via a male / female connector and should be reused to turn off the dash light when you used the seat belts.

I just snipped the two wires from the 996 Sport Seats that I was asking about above.

These dang seats are Killing Me lol!!!!

Another Question:

My seats do not have the manual slider, they are powered and as a result have a geared track covering the rear mounting holes......

Anyone Else been through this?

Do I need these Brey Krause adapters or will they even address my issue?

EDIT................After some further poking around I just went ahead and ordered the Brey-Krause adapters.
