Default PPI in Northern CA

Hi,
Just had a PPI done at TRE Motorsports in SoCal and glad i did! I passed on the car there after i heard the problems.
Now i am looking at a car in San Mateo, CA
Any recommendations for a shop to do PPI in San Mateo?

Additionally, if RMG in Sunnyvale is too much of a drive, you might try Kirberg Mtrs. in Belmont, which is just south of San Mateo. Check out the website:

Had bad impression with Don Wise, they tries to charge me 10+hrs to replace the steering wheel lock on my Boxster with intermittent stall problem without even doing initial check. End up fix was a simple bad crankshaft sensor with research on forums. Prefer Ken Sportech in Campbell, Mark is always helpful.

Thanks for the suggestions! Of course I want the most comprehensive PPI but price ranges from one I just had in LA was $250 (TRE Motosports) and $700(RMG).

As for a few years ago, RMG told me they won't do a leakdown test unless they see something that leads them down that road. They always do a compression test, however. You could probably request it for an additional fee.

Regardless, my PPI was done there. Among about 50 minor things, they found evidence of paintwork I would have missed, checked the health of the SAI system by analyzing O2 sensors, and cut open oil filters. They did make one obvious mistake though. (missed that my front shocks where still the old Monroes. They listed them as Bilsteins)

$700 is steep, but they have a reputation as the best in the Bay Area, and charge accordingly. I'd happily pay it, since you'll make most of that back on negotiation anyway if it's a good car.
