Any idea what H&Rs are?
The set I have has the main spring and small spring on the bottom.

budget wise you could just stick with what you got and still switch to nt01s.
if last year was 6 DEs and maybe next year is 8 DEs, figure 4 sessions per day and you're at 32 heat cycles.
the nt01s are so thick and heavy I doubt you will be to cord on the outside at 32 heat cycles.
my last set went 45 heat cycles before the rear cord started showing, that's with -3.7 in the rear.
fronts were fine.
discount tire direct on ebay has been having a sale mid winter and mid summer.
coupon for 100 off every 400 spent, so use the coupon to buy fronts, another coupon to buy rears.
you should get nt01s to your door for 800 bucks.
that's worth 32 heat cycles and no extra money spent on new springs or camber plates or bigger bars or ...

Thanks for all of the inputs.

Sounds like more aggresive alignment, some rebushing and a couple of new links is where I'll start.

6 DEs is more like 18 days and 70 heat cycles.

you did 18 track days last year?
you are toast...the first step is accepting addiction and welcoming the slope.
then bite the bullet and drop 10 grand on new struts, springs, plates and control arms.
or spend 10 grand on an track ready e30, e36 or 350z.

Hence I'm trying to minimize number of upgrades and maximize amount of driving.

Great to read of another 993 track focused car The trend of late has been in the other direction.

Lots of good (tried and true) set up advice already given by JPS, BillV and others. Also lots of 993 set up threads across the forums to research too.

Craig M former NNJR PCA President also has some 993 set up experience, if in that region, would be good to connect with him.

Yea I don't get why people keep these cars in the garages or just drive around town.

I would not call it track focused, quite stock actually. But as many pointed out, the seat time far outweighs the performance mods. It was rewarding to make it to non-instructed group in pretty stockish car on average street tires and pass 997gts, or 991 while in lower groups. Gt3 seats was the biggest upgrade that made a big difference.

Yes, I'm part of NNJR, but go to DEs mostly with RTR. I'll have to find this Craig M person, but I think I know what to focus on.

here's kevin and I at WGI last summer
Take a look at the loaded wheels on mine and the unloaded on his

I have a lot of static negative camber front and rear, stiff springs that limit travel and low cg w/ relatively high roll center that both contribute to low roll. My loaded wheels go to near vertical which is what you want.

The unloaded side gets even more negative camber but there is little load there, it doesn't matter

Also notice how the entire wheel shifts out from the tire carcass on the loaded side, wider wheels relative to tire, and shorter stiffer sidewalls will help minimize this.

Exactly! The last 3-4 track events have seen my TT as the only 993 out there. Yeah, I would like a dedicated track beast. Since that's not in the cards, I'm not gonna neglect my TT and leave it stashed, keeping mileage down, hoping to preserve value. I'll never sell and never stop driving. What's the purpose of having a fun car if you don't drive it?

I've seen a 993 of some sort at every event I have gone to.

At the last event there was this frankenstein 993 with 335 tires in the back and 265 in front and platic body pannels....and stock motor.

There's some but that's what you get when the springs CoM and roll centers are all optimized and working to the same game plan.

Pretty cool. Hope to see you and the car in person at one of the DEs.

I'm out there, but as a mostly stock 993, even flogging it in the Red group, I'm getting passed more and more. Just so much horsepower out there these days. I keep up for the most part in the twisties (unless they are full fat Hoosier or such), but damn...the straights come and fugghetaboutit.

that is a great direction for a track car, under powered and high grip.
get a 993 10 to 1 weight to rwhp and you'll have a very competitive car.
