Question "check engine" error 1411

My check engine light came on a few months ago and I had my mechanic look at. He said he didn't think it was anything to worry about. His little gizmo reset the computer or whatever controls it so the light would go out. Yesterday, the light came back on. I took it to him again, but I had him check to see if it was the same error code. It was. Error #1411. He didn't know that code off the top of his head and said he would check it out.

Does anyone know what this error code relates to?

So let me get this straight. You take it to your mechanic, he pulls the code, does not know what it means, resets the light and sends you on your way. Now it comes back on again with the same code, and this time he is going to try to find out what it means?

DUMP THIS GUY NOW, and take it to a professional.

I think all the error codes start with a P and they don't go any higher than P0849.

If the code is P0411 it's Secondary Air Injection System Incorrect Flow Detected.

Maybe someone else will know what #1441 means.

Ron,

Sorry to object, but I don't think it's true that the P numbers don't go higher than P0849. I still am getting a fault code of P1140 which is a Load Detection problem, something to do with air/fuel mixture (o2 sensor) on my car.

Shortslr,

P1411 is related to Secondary Air Injection System Cyl. 4-6. Hope that helps some.

Nelson,

You certainly may be right about the number. The book I have just shows them as not going any higher than 849 and each number has a P0 in front of it. My book is for OBD-II Powertrain System Diagnostic Trouble Codes as of June 18, 2002; maybe it's out of date or incomplete.

Another source y'all might check is:
http://www.gendan.co.uk/diagnostic/dtcs.php
They show the P1411 as Secondary Air Injection System error, too.

Good luck with the "dredded, carbon buildup" problem.

It seems there's is some disagreement about the code. I talked to another guy the shop and he said it's usually the composition of exhaust that triggers these "check engine" lights. In any case, clearly I shouldn't fool around any more because the light came back on. I gave in and called the dealer. I don't like dealers.

Another good source for the OBD-2 codes:

Good luck.
