PPI results dated 10/14/15, Arena Red, matching aftermarket top, grey guts. Just in case current owner(dealer) "fixes" the CEL, and puts it to auction, etc. Car located in Utica, New York.
Agreed upon price of $23K, pending PPI results. Naturally the compression/leakdown numbers were a deal breaker. Just hate to see any air cooled 911 so unloved.
This ends the public service announcement portion of this post.

Seriously, 23K? You could do a top end and get the # 5 valve replaced, CEL issues resolved and the rest of the wear items mentioned and still have a reasonably low amount invested for what could be a $ 40K + car in the end. Got any pictures??
I discussed offering less considering the results...owner says he's driven it all summer, thought it was fine...don't need to sell it, etc. Car has ALOT of deferred maintenance issues, $6-8k top end and while your in there bits, plug wires, all cover gaskets, new tire/wheelset, suspension, fix cab top... Controller issues(cold solder points I assume), seats, and door cards worn, poor fitting aftermarket windshield, etc, etc, etc, ....
Yes carfax shows one owner, this dealer bought it off a 2 yr lease at auction in 99. He never titled it, inspected it...or maintained it for that matter. So, putting $10k plus into this car at $23k...=$33k all in. Honestly, considering the total repaint, and zero maintenance records, I don't think this car would be worth more than $35-37.....if that.
He can't sell it thru the dealership without a new NYS inspection sticker on it, and I don't think he'll put any $$ Into it to get to that point. He could just go the auction route...or could another dealer buy it?
Anyway, just too much wrong, too much $$ to make it "better" for me to go forward.

Tip, issues. OP understands that it was too good to be true so he decided to pass.
...odometer not working....... Wonder how many miles it really has?
Yea they said that...but the in/out mileage varied. I could have swore I watched the odo. The least of the issues..$15 of plastic gears, and 40 minutes fidgeting on the kitchen table fixes that.
Some people see a bargain, but it reminds me of my own car, which I drove like I stole for 120K miles and then literally let cook under the CA sun in my driveway for the past 9 years. When I regrew my brain about 2 years ago I INVESTED close to 18K in the motor and transmission. Next week it goes into body and paint, etc. With everything, a person could easily spend 20 - 30K on a 993 to make it perfect, but the flip side, you'd then have a perfect 993. One of the best looking, nicest and funnest sports car on the planet.
