Model Year 94/95 oil cooler thermostat problem-may help.
My car was recently serviced by my local independent Porsche specialist - they are technicians that used to work at a nearby official Porsche centre.
As part of the oil change (both filters) they also drain the oil cooler via the thermostat. The drain plug on MY94/95 has a thin flange that tightens against the thermostat and this failed when torqued up - it showed signs of previous stress.Result a 3 day wait for a new part. The new part 993 207 258 02 was introduced for MY 96 and is substantially stronger - cost £13.60.I would suggest it might be a good idea for all MY 94/95 owners to have this replaced at their next oil change, it might save you some grief at some point.
Tim.

Apologies for bumping this (just the once)
2 reasons:
1. To hopefully let a few more MY 94/95 owners see it.
2. I have been reading a few old posts regarding getting the maximum amount of oil out at oil change time and have seen nothing about draining via the oil cooler thermostat but I may have missed something.
Cheers,
Tim.

Bins,
Sorry I'll try harder next time !
Kim,
Interesting point! I am reporting what I was told - these Guys are Factory trained and 100% reliable. If it's of interest I am more than happy to ask exactly what they do with this aspect of an oil change.
Regards
Tim.
