Default Still immobilized

Arrgh! After spending over $200 to flatbed my immobilized 1995 993 (I lost my only working key fob) to a mechanic who told me that, unlike the dealer, they will diagnose the problem and fix it instead of just replace parts, the mechanic tells me today that they can't program my immobilizer to my new key fobs because there is a problem either in the system wiring or the immobilzer module and they don't have the tester to diagnose the module. Awesome diagnosis skills. I had told them I tried all the online programming guides and failed. I had also checked the front and rear hood lights, the door lights, the glovebox, and the green radio wire. They supposedly knew better.

Does anyone know of a Boston area mechanic who REALLY knows how to fix a misbehaving immobilizer and program it to accept new fobs? Alternatively, is there a place I can mail my immobilizer and key fobs to get programmed?

Thanks,

Davis

Unless the 95 is radically different than the 96, the fobs have to communicate to the car directly...no mail in option. You need a proper key, all the fobs you're intending to program and the four digit code particular to your car. The method is very unforgiving and it took me quite a few stabs at it, but in the end I ended up with three programmed immobilizers, vs none. Cheers and good luck

It is possible to have new fobs programmed without the code.

Default bypass or reprogram?

The web site lists the cost of immobilizer repair to be $575, is that also the price to reprogram a set of fobs?

Have you reached out to Jerry Pelegrino at EPE in Natick. He should be able to help either directly or indirectly.

I used them to bypass the immobilizer and program 2 fobs since I could not get the dealer listed code to work. I had other work done as part of a package price and so I'm not sure of the cost breakdown, but I'm sure they will give you a quote if you contact them.

I just called Jerry. He told me the best bet would probably be to send my immobilizer to the ECUdoctors. They quoted me $450 to reprogram 2 fobs.

On the bright side it's easier to admire the car's lines while its sitting still!

Totally agreed. Never had such issues with my 86 or 89, or any other make of car that I have experienced for that matter.

My car originally came with only one set of keys (95 MY). after buying a new key and fob Sunset Porsche wanted 1 hr service fee to code it. I tried without success to program it myself with the code (required - any dealer can supply the code for your vin). I then happened to be in Bend, OR and Carrera Motors programmed the fob for free - took 5 min on their PC. I wouldn't take my car to a dealer for much but - this may be one time - that is your best bet. Just my experience. good luck - it is a maddening system...

So your immobilizer has been programmed without anyone having knowledge
of ANY code, i.e. your code nor the dealer's was provided for programming, right?
