In case the one picture isn't enough for you, the rest are here: http://www.stanceworks.com/2015/08/bmw-csl-hommage-r/

Dare I say that Porsche could learn a thing or two from the Bavarian's about incorporating retro style into their cutting edge automotive design.

I used to love BMW's but they have not made a car in the last 10 years that would interest me. They all look like giant boats.

+1... Last great BMWs were the E38 and E39.

I LOVED my 540 wagon... when it wasn't in the shop. I spent more money keeping that stupid car on the road than should have been allowed by law.

E39 M5 was awful (i know everyone disagrees). Regular e39s were bad. Agree about e38. Loved my e36. earlier cars are great. Like the looks of the current ones, but don't really want one.

Agreed. I have had a BMW daily driver since 2000- E36 M3, E24 635CSI, E39 540i6, E46 M3 and now an E39 528it with manual transmission. While I have continued to love each new M3 for what it is (a big GT car), I'm prepping my wagon for sale and am done with BMWs. Its been a good ride but they don't excite me anymore.

Yup I had 3 generations of 7's, E38 being the best and now I have some X5's and I nick name them Yugo's they are so bad. BMW lost there way and cant seem to build reliable V-8's anymore.

Chris Bangel made me leave the BMW brand...Google him, a Pontiac guy.

I'm looking at a Porsche Macan Turbo as my daily driver...I don't like the Cayenne.

We've had probably 25-30 BMW's over the years and my all-time favorite was the e28 Euro M5. Don't know why we sold it...lightweight, no sound deadening, 286 hp., Diamond Black w/black leather interior. A true stealth Q-Ship. "Oh, well...Tomorrow's another day."

True the recent targa was a nice nod to yesteryear utilizing modern technology. I won't dispute that one. The Spyders are also modern nods to Porsche heritage. I just feel like the modern Pcars are getting WAY too big and are losing there way for the light, nimble, well balanced cars that Porsche built is name and fame around.

Well, get used to it, because one reason for this is because Porsche is no longer Porsche as you once knew it. That car maker doesn't exist any longer. Now, it's owned by VW and just another car brand under the VW conglomerate.

Also people are fatter and bigger, thus so are the cars. Most people don't want light nimble sports cars, they want luxe barges on wheels.

The only thing a 911 from the 90s and a modern Porsche really have in common are the engine placement. They really are far different machines. Some would say better, some would say not.

Times change, and they certainly have with Porsche, along with most automakers. I also used to like BMWs. Now, not so much

I'd say even THAT is not the same. Pretty sure it keeps creeping further forward with each new generation.

That's not necessarily entirely correct. Though indeed Volkswagen AG controls Porsche (the car manufacturer), it does so as a result of a complex corporate restructuring process, and not a takeover by Volkswagen.

Volkswagen AG is however controlled by Porsche SE, which is the investment vehicle of the Porsche and Piech families.

Basically, what happened is that Porsche ended up controlling Volkswagen, with Porsche manufacturing moved under Volkswagen as the umbrella company for all group brands (including Porsche, Bugatti, Audi, Lamborghini, Volkswagen, etc).

I still drive my E39 seasonally being situated in the land of snow up north.
Its a decent car if u can tolerate - Poor Balance and Plastic Engine gaskets.
Have to say it is reliable auto and safe on dry pavement.
Without all of the electronics it would be in a ditch.
When BMW Offered me every car they built to keep my business I said I do not like the way you build your cars. I am buying a Porsche 911 Air Cooled. Thank You. Good Bye.
