Swapping seats for weight loss
Swapping seats must be about the single largest weight reducing exercise there is for these cars.
I just had a chance to weight my old 4-way power, leather seats: 22.5kg (49.5 lbs)
My new seats weigh 5.5kg each (12 lbs)
Swapping both seats means a weight reduction of 34kg (75 lbs)!
(Of course my new seat sliders aren't included in the weight of the new seats as they haven't arrived yet! Maybe the difference will be 'only' 32kg)
My weight reduction is now at 45.5kg (100 lbs) and I've only just started! RSRs and lightweight battery next...

MUAHAHAHA!!!
Welcome to the weight reduction club . I'll have to agree with Kim that sliders are heavy.
I found some pretty cool seats that only weigh 6 lbs!! Only wish I could afford them right now.

Graham - if the weight of the sliders is an issue for you, you may want to consider mounting the seats directly to the floors (how often do we really adjust our seats?). I believe BK has mounts for the 996 so they may have some for the 993 as well.

Ditto for sliders.
I have sliders on passenger seat but driver's seat is bolted to the floor...

Boling the seat directly to the floor can be a tad inconvenient if someone else needs to drive the car, e.g. when it is being serviced....you might have to get fairly specific about the physical characteristics of people who can work on your car
