Andreas,
Very nice work on the tool...Is this your invention, or did you create it from another tool you've seen? Either way, that seems to be the ticket!

BTW, That's one cleanass motor!

Just a loose & hastily-assembled approximation of the 9548 tool.

After fighting the pipe and getting it removed, I drilled out the holes to the heater crossover pipe and replaced them with screw/nut setup. Much easier to take on/off imo.

Nice job - need to build a tool like that next time I need it. I have been using the brake/clutch technique with no issues to date ...

Cheers,

Mike

Very impressive engineering Andreas.

Please don't look up the price of the fan hub though...you will find out that the "business end" was almost worth it's weight in gold before surgery!

I probably have a dozen used ones in my shop. Worry not, no new fan hubs were harmed for this shade-tree engineering exercise.

Thanks to Andreas for lending me the crank pulley tool. Old pulley is off and new Rothsport single pulley is installed.

It's as smart as ur mini Phillips anti-drop safety twine.
A work of art here.

Scott,
My pleasure. Hopefully the welds held.

Bringing this thread back to topic...

I'm at the same point that Andreas was last year, when he made the original post.
However, the bolts on my car are very tight, and I tried to break one loose last night with a good 5mm hex socket tapped into the bolt head, but still felt like it was slipping (rounding) a bit.

I REALLY don't want to round off the bolt heads in the current state.

My end-goal is to remove the engine carrier. Is it possible to just leave the crossover tube attached, remove the engine mounts, and lower the engine a bit, so I can actually get better access to these two bolts?

Interesting thread. I gotta take some welding classes. Been putting it off too long.

I ended up getting a set of looooong hex sockets with the ball-end, and was able to remove these two bolts without rounding them. When time comes for re-assembly, anti-seize on everything....
