Default Cabin insulation

What can be easily added or done to better soundproof and resist engine cabin heat soak? Any feedback from an install done is greatly appreciated.

Subscribed. I took all of mine oit, would love a lighter weight solution. It's a bit too loud for me right now. Just a bit though.

I found this link while researching an audio install. There is a little chat about sound deadening in the RL link I think.

About 18 years ago I did a body off restoration of a Karmann Ghia. I used Dynamat (spray-on), and was not entirely pleased with the result. I think this had more to do with the spray-on, and that if I used the pads, it would have worked out much better. So not much info for you other than to avoid using the spray-on Dynamat.

I have used Dynamat and Dynaliner in the doors and found it very effective.

Bruce7's writeup; post #17 mentions a 2-2.5dB road noise attenuation though hard to know how how precisely this was measured. This is with "dynamat covering 20% more of the lower door compared to the section where the original strip was located", i believe you can cover quite a bit more ie almost all of the inside of the outer door skin, however thorough cleaning required, and might be a bit tricky to apply pressure to get dynamat to stick in some of the less accessible spots.

I would NOT install it on the door inner skins as was done here, which will limit future access to latch & window hardware:

Remember seeing another thread where someone posted that the best sound damping in the rear was the thick mat on top of the rear parcel shelf; others noted that adding dynamat back there had little effect / mixed results.

Don't recall anyone posting info about heat soak / insulating value of any engine bay or rear deck products. FWIW there are some at one of the websites linked in the first post, I leave it to you to sort out marketing hyperbole from reality: http://zeronoise.com/automotive_nois..._materials.htm
