How much would you pay for a salvage title?

OP - no one needs to remind you that life is short. You are planning to wait how many years? to see the prices - maybe - come out on the other side of a hypothetical bubble so that you can save yourself, what -- $5,000 - $15,000?
How many years are you prepared / able to wait to prove that you are right and that the marketplace is wrong?

Man, the swings in how john values his time and money are very manic. I'd guess hes a teenaged troll until I looked at the post count.
He showed up on the 993 boards around the same time as another guy (cant remember the user name) swinging back and forth between complaining about getting rid of his 964 for a 993 and then how expensive and crappy the 993 was. Really confusing/amusing.

Sure. But my sofa cushions are literally the vending machines. Little here, little there and I probably have about that much so far this year in the stash. Who here can't put aside at least $100/wk. without missing it? End of a year there's your $5K to "overpay" for a car.

Speaking of service, this is one of my favorite John Ireland threads.

So, if one is able to spend $5K on the maintenance and repair of a 996, then why quibble over the value of a 993?

Totally agree with this ^^^.

I would never turn my nose up at saving five or fifteen thousand dollars. And I would also not hesitate to spend what it takes for proper care of a car I already own. My post on the 996 forum was to show what one particular buyer spent to cure deferred maintanence on a 12 year old car...and that I was happy that it involved no major mechanical failure.
Perhaps my 993 bargain hunting mood is because I haven't gotten use to the idea of getting rid of the 996. A cheaper 993 means I could convince my wife I should keep both.
My quotes of prices indicate to me that the marketplace is following classic patterns of asset inflation and deflation. The pendulum never changes... movement in one directoion will lead to a correction of equal swing in the other direction.
Lighten up folks...

As I said elsewhere, either buy the ****ing thing or don't, but enough with these nonsensical threads.

I wish I could spend the day with Johnny Irish, I bet that would be entertaining.

no. We take your bull**** personally, because you make inane and asinine comments with no basis in reasonable fact. Ebay listings, salvage cars, 996 dissertations, etc etc.

"High dudgeon"? I've never heard of this expression before.
And what's a "classic pattern of asset inflation and deflation"? What goes up must come down? This is good stuff.
