Post 993 air con dash unit

I have a brand new A/C climate control unit for a 993 purchased from an Official Porsche dealer that I can't use. I own a 964 & my A/C unit failed so I ordered another 964 unit that was out of stock. The replacement was the 993 unit, I purchased it & then my mechanic told me the original 964 unit electronics had been repaired so I need to sell this one. The Porsche part number is 993.659.048.01.CJH
Price U.S. $1000.00 & I will include free delivery via Fedex to the US or Europe with jpeg images available on request.
Thank you & Happy New Year, Mark

Hello Mark,

As I understand it--and if I'm reading my PET (part catalog) correctly--993.659.048 with a 01 suffix (993.659.048.01) is for a '95 or newer model.

Is it possible you were provided with a CCU for a 993, or are there perhaps some differences in Hong Kong?

BTW, all of the original 964 prefix climate control units have been discontinued, superseded by the 993 prefix part number, but with a 00 suffix instead of a 01 suffix (used for the 993). For example, the part number for my '91 C2 is 993.659.047.00.

Finally, I believe your CCU is right-hand drive specific. I'm a novice at PET reading, so any PET veterans please correct me if "RL" doesn't refer to right-hand drive, with "LL" referring to left-hand drive.

Best of luck in finding a buyer for your CCU!

Hi E.J.,

Actually, I just broke down and purchased one. Suppose that's why I'm so familiar with the part numbers, model transitions, etc.

Interesting, my PET parts catalog doesn't even cover the air conditioning system. Near as I can tell, my parts microfiche doesn't either (but I didn't print out EVERY page, only ones I felt I might need).

Hi Ray,

If your PET catalog is like mine, the climate control unit is buried in Main Group 8 = Body. The actual illustration is 813-40 for a 993.

I can't recall the various extensions now, but for anyone considering buying this (or even for your info, Mark / Randall) it is important that you get the correct one to match your loom, as the wiring is different.

On the post 96 cars the heater electronics are changed, and the pinouts of the HCU are different.

If you compare the wiring diagrams for 94, 95, and 96 it is quite apparent.

Also, for this with the PET, if you want to know what the RL and LL etc mean, its under one of the menus. I think they are listed under 'M codes' or something like that.

Cheers,
John (still catching up on christmas break posts !!)
