Default Which one would you rather have?

1) 2011 997 Turbo S
http://www.autokennel.com/AutoKennel/Entries/Entries/2015/2/18_2011_Porsche_911_997_Turbo_S_Coupe_$190k_MSRP_Custom_Ordered_Example_ CPO_Factory_Warranty.html

2) 1996 993 TT

If you choose #1, you'll save $45k -- good enough for a mid-to-high mileage NB.

The first link does not work, even if you paste it into your browser.

I'd personally rather have the 993TT since thats one of my dream cars, 997TT is too boring and linear. Too refined.

Not a 911, but I love my 951. In fact, I like driving my 951 much more than my good friend's 993NB.

That 45k would be quickly lost in
depreciation and maintenance.

PCCBs are 25k to replace and believe are standard on tts

Easy, I would pick the '96 turbo. I drove a 2014 Turbo S and I would not have traded my '98 C2S for it. The turbo S was incredible, but did not give me the same joy as the 993.

Thanks, Spyderman.

Point is:

1) assuming the $45k price spread holds, I'd take the 991 and use the $45k to buy a mid-mileage 993NB

2) comparable 993 prices (similar model, mileage -- granted there are few if any hi-mileage 991) are matching or exceeding 991s

I'm a driver not a collector, so I would choose the 997.2 TTS. But on the condition that I could still keep my 993C4S. I have some wheel time in a 2011 PDK equipped TTS and after experiencing all of that tech, specifically the launch control, I am still puzzled when people say that it would be a boring car to drive. Trust me, it had me pretty engaged. Drive one if you get a chance, they're absolutely BANANAS.

..Now, if I was a collector, the 993TT would be my choice...But I think buying one today at $150K is missing the gravy train by a few years...2009 was the time to get into a cherry 993TT as an investment...

Default Buyer Beware on the 2nd one.

Drive it and look at all the known Turbo specific and Carrera known items as "This vehicle is sold “as-is” with no warranty, written or implied." says it all.
Attached is my constantly appended issue of Carrera items to look at. When in love one sometimes forgets you are being romanced by a older woman, in this case 15+ years older, so the better you are at looking at things yourself with a qualified guy in the passenger seat the less likely you will be disappointed.

But you probably already know this.

Andy :-)

I don't think it's particularly fair to refer to PDK as a "tip". Yes it's not a manual, but the car comes with multiple driver aids that are not found on a 993tt. PDK is part of that package. I think that's a big point of the comparison.

+1

I think you said it all! I haven't driven either but I would guess that the 993tt would be a unique experience--the 997tt would be an absolute blast but probably similar to many other modern supercars. "Horses for courses"
