Post Clear turn signal DIY

I just ordered the modified clear turn signal indicators. Is it as simple as following the owners manual bulb change out?

It's an under 5 min simple install - remove screw, jiggle the lens up/down a bit to loosen it & then slide it straight forward to clear the 2 retaining slots - twist out the light socket.

The units come w/single filament bulbs in single contact sockets. Neither the provided bulbs nor the sockets are used. Depending on whether you want amber or white light, the bulbs need to be replaced w/#1157 dual filament bulbs (parking/signal) amber bulbs (any auto supply store) or you can just use the oem setup - i.e., clear bulbs. I tried both since my State permits white turn signals. The ambers show a bit when off & obviously the light looks amber when on. I was concerned about glare w/the clears, but it wasn't a problem so I ended up using the clears which look better - on or off.

No. I think you will find it is a single filament bulb (turn signal only), not the dual filament (parking & turn) you'll need. You won't use the amber bulbs or the sockets that come w/the clear lenses.

There was also a post on this topic last week where you could take an amber bulb and spray high temp silver paint on it so it doesn't show through the lens when off. It will still look amber when lit. Search the archives for more info.
