Default Car won't start

I went to see my car (in storage) and the engine won't start

My battery is at 12.8v. I replaced the DME relay and still doesn't start.

When I turn the key completely, I hear a clic but nothing else.

What can I do?

Did you press the immobilizer button on the remote?

Happened to me just a few weeks ago after not starting the car since September. I had completely forgotten about that "feature."

BTW with a bad DME relay, the car will crank, but won't start, so it doesn't sound like that's your issue.

I suspect battery. Under load it may not read 12.8 volts.

Thanks! Forgot to say, it's an early 95 (no immobilizer). And good to know about the DME relay.

Agreed w/ Texas 993. It's the battery. Have encountered this same problem...

Good luck and hope it's an easy fix!

Double check your main ground near the battery, but I also think battery. Got a partner to help? Have them monitor battery voltage as you try the ignition.

...and clean those battery posts and inside the terminals. Corrosion can inhibit current flow.

See if she will start with jumper cables.
If so, it's battery/ground/cable related.

It is the battery, without a doubt.
While in storage, did you have the battery on a tender? If not, that is your issue.

The battery is at home on a tender. I still hope it's the battery. I will go see the car this week-end with boost cable. I hope it's simply the battery... i'll keep you posted.

If you do need to use jumper cables, please study up beforehand. Doing it improperly can fry sensitive electronics. It's not just a matter of Pos. to Pos. and Neg. to Neg.
