Post fog lamps

Is it possible to use 100W bulbs in the fog lamps without changing relays or risking burning up wires and the fog lamp housing itself?

I've no personal experience, but I considered changing to 100W & decided not to try it. The fog light bulbs are in a small, enclosed, plastic space & when used will likely remain on for protracted periods of time. I was primarily concerned about the heat generated which is considerably more at 100W. Of secondary concern is that the electrical load is almost doubled. Last, I doubt the gain in a fog light is worth the risks.

I have run 100W high beams w/o any problem for 2 years. However, the bulb is in an open space with good cooling & isn't on for very long. (and, it still pales next to the HID.)

I don't think you can use 100W bulb for the fog light. You will melt the case housing easily, even with 55W bulb. The only way to upgrade is to change your foglight to TechArt or after-market Turbo S style, it'll give out 37.5W which is way brighter than the OEM.

Peace!

If I'm not mistaken the oem fog light bulb is a 55W H-3 halogen.

That's strange, my 38W is brighter than the oem, it could be the way the light reflect off the casing, thanks for the info. The after-market lense is made of glass so I was thinking of increasing the wattage to 100W.

Peace!

A safer upgrade for the original 55W H3 bulb is the PIAA bulb, which claims at least 40% more light without higher current. They then become a reasonable adjunct to low beam (with adjustment) if you haven't done HID yet.
