Hi all
Longtime Porsche owner and new to Rennlist.
Currently own a 1964 356 Cab
and a 2006 997 Cab
Just purchased a 1998 933 Cab with 17k Miles.
Id like to replace the standard steering wheel with a 968
3 spoke, Been looking and figured it might be cheaper and easiier to
buy a new wheel with parts. Can you suggest source?
Also looking for suggestions of the best 993 mechanic and garage
north of Boston.
Happy Thanksgiving

Gary, I also own a 1965 356sc Coupe and a 1997 C2S with 28,000 miles on it. Not sure where you live north of Boston…..I live in Andover. There is a place in Lawrence called KMC (Kachel Motor Co…..Tim is the owner….he used to work at KTR several years ago) who is great. Shop hourly rate is $100 and they do a great job. They have worked on both of my cars. They are putting on a new 3 spoke steering wheel and Fister II can's tomorrow. Let me know if I can be of any help.

Regarding shops, EPE in Natick is the best shop in the Boston area in my opinion.
Let's see some pics of this car...or it really didn't happen. Congrats.

Welcome Gerry,
If you want to buy new, try Suncoast. You'll also need the airbag...

Hope to see pics of your new 993 posted here on Renn, and hope to meet you soon at one of our local cars and coffee around Town!

Still one of the best mods I ever made to my car. Once I got an E46 M3 as a daily with the thicker grip at 10 and 2 it made the stock 993 wheel feel like a Buick!

No U.S. market 968's came with a three-spoke wheel - all have the early four-spoke airbag wheel (earlier than the 993 one). Some European 968s came with the three-spoke Clubsport wheel, which does not have an airbag:

As mentioned, an airbag-equipped three-spoke didn't appear until the 996 era:

You need to make sure the airbag carries over and works properly.
FWIW, some manufacturers specify the life of airbag components.
Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

A 4 spoke can be redone to provide the same feel. The only diff is whether one prefers the 3 spoke look. I think a 4 spoke works quite well:

993 RS wheel is a 3 spoke option as well but no airbag.

Better visibility of what, the ignition or the heater controls?
Thanks-Dallas Steering Wheel. First class work!
You get better visibility with a 3 spoke. The four spoke also looks like a dinosaur IMHO, kind of like the old chevy wheel below.
