The 996 wheel has a smaller circumference - better feel, yes visibility, and easier for us 6' 4" guys to get in and out of the car.

At least we agree on Dallas Custom - that's where I had my leather air bag done.

I'm a big fan of Rensport in Framingham. Super nice guy and knows his air-cooled 911's. It's not really north though...I think we are pretty lucky in the boston area with 1/2 dozen reputable shops. It may be more about matching your personality than the quality of work.

Bought a 996 steering wheel from Dallas Streering wheels then found a gray leather airbag in the sale section from Suncoast. Have to send pics when Imget it on

Gerry,

As others have noted, the 3-spoke 996 is the way to go. I picked up a very clean one used on Rennlist and installed it in about 10 minutes (excluding the 30 min wait after disconnecting the battery for airbag pill power to expire). One of the best mods.

I am just outside of Boston as well if you need help making the swap.
