Jeff, PeterS and Sputnik..

It's nice to know there are some fellow HOUSE heads on the block. But I couldn't disagree more with your taste in CD's. Paul Oakenfold and Paul Van Dyke are pure commercial Trance. If you want some real progressive house for those long drives, try one of these:

Sasha and Digweed: Communicate, Airdrawndagger, any of the GLOBAL UNDERGROUNDS and of course Northern Exposure Vol I and II.

Any album by Deep Dish or Yoshi Toshi. Deep Sky is another great electronic mixed DJ set. Sandra Collins, Hybrid, Max Grahamn, Pete Tong, Richie Haughtin, Dave Seaman.

On a side note: I won an award for Best Music Documentary for a film I directed on the House Music Scene. In addition I also used to be a photographer for Mixer and Revolution Magazine. So if you want to know some good house albums i'm your go to guy

In terms of classic rock. I will always love Pink Floyd, The Dead, Phish, etc.
Fav dead songs: Eyes and franklins tower..

Best Pink Floyd album: undeniably its' ANIMALS.......

B-LINE: I don't think I could do ANIMALS in the P-car. I'd be going entirely too fast without realizing it. Wish You Were Here I can handle.

Also: classical fan #2 here. Mozart's Requiem would be one of my first choices.

Others: Portishead, Mazzy Starr, Norah Jones.

Very eclectic selection in mine:

Nine Inch Nails
Pink Floyd
Delerium
Front Line Assembly
Rush
Paul Van Dyke

However, I go from Moody Blues/Elton John mellow to Ministry/Nitzer Ebb madness by way of Yes and Jethro Tull and everything in between.

The Who
Jefferson Airplane/Starship
Moody Blues
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Santana
etc.

Oh yeah - Get a copy of Rob Blevins' album "Juxtaposition" and listen to "DUI"

Out here in Illinois (ain't no noise in Illinois) running up and down the highway start with some CCR...blend a little of the Allman Bros (early material only) with the Dead (Skeleton Album, American Beauty & Workingman's Dead and Europe '72) with New Rider's as backup....Follow that with some Pink Floyd, Stones (earlier the better especially "Exile on Main Street')...and as the RPM's come down add some Nora Jones, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac and Steely Dan..... AAAAHHH WereWolves of London!!!!!!!!!!! Titled: 993 Itoxication

80% of the time I go with the tunes of Flat-Six. It's a favorite of everyone here. This thread reminds me of how long it's been since I bought music! Right now I don't have my CD wallet in the car (did my first DE this weekend) so I only have one CD in my playe - no CD changer, did I mention I don't use the stereo much in a cab? FILTER. They rock. This may not represent my overall favorites, but here's what's currently in my CD wallet:
Depeche Mode
La Ley Unplugged (great CD in Spanish, even if you don't understand)
The Smiths
Garbage
Nine Inch Nails
Top 10 Classical
Bob Thoroughgood (he's bad to the bone)
Cold Play
Pearl Jam

EDIT: oops, sorry about the duplicate post. And the slowest, most mysterious tunes from DM are my favorite.

(Some of) you guys have great taste

For the house/techno fans, try listening to DJ Tiësto "In search of Sunrise". That's one of the few CDs you can leave playing as it takes you on a beautiful journey

Regular members of my playlist include: DJ Tiësto, Jan Johnston "Flesh", Röyksopp, A-Ha, Moloko "Forever More", Chakra "Home", Depeche Mode, "Cafe del Mar" CDs, and a selection of 80s hits that I would regret owning up to

I'm listening to "Jurgen Vries - Wilderness" as I type this...

Surj-993C2S, "Follow the Leader", Eric B & Rakim is my fave old skool hip-hop track and some LL Cool J hits the spot too.

Jeff 993TT, I'm not familiar with that CD but I love a lot of his stuff and the music on his record label, Perfecto (http://www.perfecto-fc.com)

Sputnik, heh heh, PvD is one of the best, no doubt. I still listen to "For an angel" and "Tell me why" regularly.

RL (Princeton), yep I have over 100 classical CDs. Faves include Beethoven sonatas for piano and violin, Bach's cello suites, Scubert lieder, operas by Mozart and the italians but a lot more obscure stuff too. I don't seem to listen to clasical in the car much though.

chris walrod, Massive Attack's "Blue Lines" CD has to be in my top 5 CDs ever. "Unfinished sympathy" is devastatingly beautiful!

fluid15, did you know that you can go to the edit link, and then delete your duplicate post? Oh yeah, and DM is great

Hey Graham - everyone likes a bit of Haircut 100 or The Housemartins every now and then (but only when they're on their own!!)

Personally, PE's "...Nation of Millions..." is by far my fave Old Skool album.
But my fave oldie track would have to be something like "Who's gonna take the weight" by Gangstarr or "Respect Yourself " by NWA.

And for something way way out there - my fave album ever is probably "Live and Dangerous" by Thin Lizzy (hows that for eclectic??)
