Whooaaa - easy there Chuck "Rap just plain sucks"???

Its quite nice to drive along to the likes of Dr Dre, PE, Gangstarr and LL Cool J.

Most of my hip-hop comes from the old-skool days when I did a spot of DJing - King Bee, Eric B & Rakim, Run DMC, NWA, EPMD etc etc

Here goes my 'Long Strange Trip'.........
400+ Dead shows starting in 1967 at Golden Gate Park/ Haight Ashbury. Saw them play in a warehouse with an unknown lady named Janis Joplin, maybe 75 people there total. Around 300 soundboard tapes. Traveled show to show in the early 70s in a 66 VW bus. Saw Jerry play acoustic in a small bar. Saw other bands in the late 60s.......Led Zep, Doors, Hendrix, Moody Blues, CSNY, Jethro Tull, etc......I have most of the ticket stubs in case I forget.......afterall it was the 60s!
License plate frame on my old 65 356 pretty much sums it up more ways than one......"Bound To Cover Just A Little More Ground".......A line from one of my favorite songs, The Wheel.

Most of my favorite band are doing their "Assisted Living" tours this summer.

Stones
Eagles
Allman Bros
Steve Winwood (saw him at the pier 62 this summer)
Little Feat (saw them at the Experience Music Project with of all people sittin in on one song: Paul Allen. He did OK)

Most of the time tho we have the Flat Six Cylinders playing the tune Air Cooled with Motor Sound!

Actually, my wife and I just yack for hours when we drive. Drove to Montana last year and never used the tunes!

Sorry Surj I got out of hand there...I may have heard one or two rap songs that I liked...but the genre is creeping into rock songs and is has me pissed off. Ya gotta keep 'em separated...Offspring.

I've never listened to country, jazz, disco, industrial, or R&B either, that doesn't make me a bad guy, just focused.

Just one Allman Brothers? For me that would be very hard- probably Live at Fillmore East or the first album. And follow that with Little Feat's Waiting for Columbus- I think the best live R&R album ever.

Yes, new rap sucks. The Beastie Boys, Run DMC, PE, LLCoolJ, Eric B. & Rakim, Naughty by Nature, Bel Biv Devoe, Digital Underground, still got it. (My wife thinks I am a fool)

Currently in my car, Soundtracks from Oh Brother, Where Art Thou, The Matrix, Gone in 60 seconds, 311, Beasties, Eva Cassidy, Enya, Garth Brooks.

Yes, I have a very wide range of musical tastes.

Paul Oakenfold does make a good music. But Paul Van Dyke is just absolute best. His "Out There And Back' is as good as it could get. Timeless classic. I promise you are going to cry while listen this CD.

Nothing but Dead (with the occasional Jerry Garcia Band or Burning Spear show thrown in for good measure).

Admittedly, my favorite driving music is the flat-six behind me, preferably at well over 4000 RPM, but on the occassions that I do listen to CDs I am partial to opera (Puccini, Mozart, Wagner), as well as Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert, Bach et al.
Are there no other classical music loving 993-drivers out there?

How about 'Massive Attack"? Has anyone listened to their music? Pretty cool stuff. Lots of movies use them for funky background music.

Smooth Jazz:
Dave Koz, Gregg Karukas, Joyce Cooling, Norman Brown, Richard Elliot, Larry Carlton, Lee Ritenour, etc. These guys are all alive and actually have a civil haircut. We drive to jazz concerts all over the west coast to see ém. Done a couple of JazzTrax cruises and Catalina, too. My music choices may explain why I was looking for sound insulation help in my previous post. I have an aftermarket Alpine in my 993 and a big amp and powered subwoofer in my GMC Duramax. Robin
