How to measure rim width when tire installed
I found a rim width, tire width tool on at northern tool but not certain it will do the job.
Need to know rim width to determine if I can run narrower tire in front as current tire is closer to fender lip than I prefer. The wheels are Kinesis Super Cup wheels, currently running 18 x30 x 285.in rear and 18 x 40 x235 in front.
My stock wheels and tires are 996 Twin Turbo hollow spoke wheels which run 18 x 30 x 295. in rear and 18 x 40 x 225 , in front, all size info is cast into these wheels. They fit perfectly. Rims are 8" front and rears are 11"

In any case, ~$20 spent at a tire shop for a quick dismount/remount will get you the definitive answer.
Yes I do need check offset. twin turbo wheel are 50 front and 45 rear They to my eye fit and look nice.
I saw in another thread where someone had 8" and 10" Kinesis supercup rims and was saying front offset was 42 and rear was 30.

It's easy enough to measure overall width w/ tires mounted, just place a rigid board across the wheel flange on each side(make sure it rests on the wheel flange not the tire) and then measure the perpendicular distance between them
