I have noticed that upon release of the brake pedal, my rear brake lights sometimes remain on for up to 4 seconds or so.
I am able to see this due to the raised rear brake light lighting the cabin at night.
I have had a look in the pedal assembly area and from my initial investigations determined that it's either:
a) a sticky or incorrectly adjusted barke switch located under the brake pedal.
b) the brake pedal is not fully returning.
I adjusted the switch as much as possible without causing the opposite effect ie. the brake lights not being activated when the pedal is initially depressed...........but the problem persists.
Is there anything else that can be done to ensure that the brake pedal returns properly other than lubing the various pivots in the pedal area.
many thanks

Dear Francesco,
Pop down to your local electronics store and purchase a spray can of contact cleaner. Blast that microswitch. You will probably find that the switch/plunger assembly is gummed up with accumulated muck. A quick lube without getting anything on the microswitch itself might also be worth it. Do not lube the microswitch,
Ciao,
Adrian
