Post Missing option code sticker?

Where, exactly, is the option code sticker found? I thought it was on the inner surface of the front hood, but mine's nowhere to be found. My '98 C2S is a custom order paint color (Forest Green Metallic); could that explain its absence? Even though I'm not the orig. owner, I don't think car has been re-painted.

you are correct it is found on the inner surface of the front hood directly below the badge.
I am no expert but would think all cars special order paint or not would have the sticker.

Forest Green Metallic (code 5353) was a "Special Exterior Color" on the '98 Carrera S. It had an MSRP of $2955. However, this doesn't explain the lack of the options sticker. There should be another copy of this sticker affixed to the first page of the warranty/service booklet.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong - I thought affixing the sticker to the inside of the trunk lid & in the service book was done by the selling dealer as part of the PDI. If so, might be as simple as a forgetful dealer.

My first 95 was missing the sticker, as well ... sometimes that's a sign that the hood has been replaced.

But as it was explained to me, the car came from Germany with two copies of the sticker. The dealership tech, at the pre-delivery inspection, after checking the options, is supposed to afix one copy under the front lid and the second copy to the first page of the service manual. Apparently, it's not uncommon for the hood sticker to get tossed or misplaced and never applied.

Mine is under the hood but missing from the service book. Could be that the original book was damaged and replaced by the PO but this was not disclosed or identified during the PPI. Hmmmm. <img src="graemlins/icon107.gif" border="0" alt="[icon107]" />
