Default Updated Programming Key Fob /Switchblade Key Version 9

Dear Rennlisters,
Here is a significantly revised version of the previously published instructions on how to disarm the 993 Ignition Immobilizer and program (mate) electronic fobs/switchblade keys to your 993.

Hope this helps,
Andy

I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to document the process. I used it to redo a new alarm fob a bit ago and it really helped me out, so thanks for the document.

Having just reprogrammed a new fob, I can vouch that the instructions worked flawlessly

If I don't have a code for the fob, is there a way to get it without going through the dealer?

Not that I know of. All you need is a Title for the car in your name and show it to any Porsche dealer and he will probably just give the the code.

Need some help. I went to the dealer to get my code. The printout shows the following codes:
Anlerncode: XXXX
Radio Code: XXXX
Ignition lock/alarm system code: XXXX
Immobiliser code: XXXX

The Anlerncode and immobiliser code is the same number.

Which code is the correct one to use?

I had to reread your question several times...Hmmm good question. I'd call the delaer back and ask which code is used for programming a fob to work with your car?

I'm thinking its either the, Anlerncode and immobiliser code (which are the same), or the Ignition lock/alarm system code.
If one doesn't work, try the other. Entering a wrong code will simply produce a non-programed fob, and there is no lockout feature on fob programming.

If I don't have a code for the fob, is there a way to get it without going through the dealer?
If I knew, I wouldn't say so, simply for security purposes...Take your registration and ID to the dealer and they can get the code, after you prove ownership. Some dealers make you produce the vehicle as well, for a precautionary measure.

The difference is:
The Anlerncode and immobiliser code is the same number.
Ignition lock/alarm system code is a different number.

I assume the correct code is the Ignition lock/alarm system code but not 100% sure.

I called my local Porsche dealer and they warned about altering the immobilizer code if done incorrectly? They also wouldn't give me the code even though the car is registered and titled to me and they said this would take an hour to an hour and a half to complete. Is there any truth to that? Thanks.

Let us know which code they tell you to use, I also got a similar printout with 3 numbers two of the are same. I want to program a second fob. So please let us know which code to use.

Thanks and best regards

Using the instructions it may take as long as 30 min. to do it assuming you make errors resulting in three attempts. The dealer uses the shop manual instructions that take an hour to read and understand alone.

Make a note of you outstanding customer service experience at the dealer on the PCNA Face Book site and go see another dealer.

A reputable Porsche dealer will want to see the car and match up your ownership title to it before giving you anything.

Ditto, and I even used the factory manual instructions to get them programmed in the first time. Easy!
